...A Nation

Two thousand years ago, God gave the nation of Israel “the spirit of slumber”
(Rom. 11:8 cf. Isa. 29:10) in response to her unbelief, a state of virtual, spiritual
death (cf. Matt. 9:18,24) in which the nation has lain for nearly two thousand
years now..."

[No, The Church Body Of Christ does Not "replace" Israel]

"...The resurrection of Lazarus is a dramatic type of the spiritual resurrection
that the nation will someday experience at the Lord’s Hand when He returns
to establish the kingdom of heaven on earth.

If you are not familiar with New Testament types and imagery of this sort, we
feel you are in for a real treat as we consider the powerful story of the raising
of Lazarus with the nation of Israel in mind...

No the church body doesnt replace itself. The Church meaning the body of those who have faith; Israel has always been. Ever read that not all of Israel is Israel? The point of that passage is to say Israel has always been about the faithful and not about flesh.
This subject is done to death over and over and its just sad. Even the OT is full of flesh Israel being rebellious and cut off while the by flesh rejected act in faith and are brought in to the body, even being in the lineage of Jesus himself.

Weeeeell...

The body of Christ

Akin to 'the bar' 'the horse' 'the school'

Its not a building but it is a local small c church.

What entity has every believer?

The Kingdom and the Family

The body of Christ ain't the same thing!

Thanks for your posting. I am of the belief that a Jew is not a Jew who is one outwardly but inwardly. Similarly, not all who are Israel are Israel. In simple words, all who are saved in Christ are able to be called Israel.

However, I did enjoy the fact that you see the raising of Lazarus as a type or imagery picture. Indeed, the Bible is written in parable form (Psalm 78:1-2, Mark 4:34) so that the surface words must be interpreted for their underlying meaning. I see the raising of Lazarus as being a picture of the saving of a person through Christ. When we were without strength, Christ died for us. Lazarus was a rotting corpse and so was totally without strength to save himself. In like manner, a sinner is without any ability of their own to save themselves spiritually, until Christ gives the word to raise that person spiritually and give them new life. It shows how God takes the initiative to save a person while the person has no ability on their own to initiate the process. Although the story in the New Testament shows the physical raising of Lazarus as the surface text, I see this as a way of showing clearly what happens spiritually when a person is saved.
