Spiritual disciplines are basically spiritual exercises. Examples include prayer, fasting, Bible study, meditation, fellowship, etc.

Yes. All these things are resources that our Lord has provided for us in order that we might draw closer to Him.

We are exhorted to use all the resources He has provided. The Bible tells us to do all these things. They do not save us, but they help us grow.

James 4:8
“Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.”

think of it this way

God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”
‭‭John‬ ‭4:24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

when we pray for example it’s simply a child addressing thier father so practicing prayer is like speaking with your dad it is a spiritual principle because it’s established here

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭6:63‬ ‭KJV‬‬

It is The reality of a relationship starting to spring up in our lives with God. One where we don’t have to have another guy talk to God for us but we’ve been given to green light to come and speak with our father our own selves

all of the principles that we practice in a Christian life are spiritual principles

“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. ( who are practicing in those spiritual principles )

For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:1-2‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Paul’s talking about this law of the spirit with no condemnation in it

“the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.”

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭5:24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Spiritual principles need to become our daily lives that’s how we walk in the spirit

“If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭5:25‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭5:16-18‬ ‭KJV‬‬

even things like communion

“For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭11:26‬ ‭KJV‬‬

baptism

“Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭6:3-4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

all of the spiritual principles Jesus teaches ( everything he taught his disciples ) have deep and important Meaning to God and his word reveals those meanings and importance’s until we end up thinking in the line of his word and those things become important parts of our lives because we begin to believe what we are hearing

Hi again sir, and yes, I would've had to ask as well even had to go see why you asked.

The clear easy answer... to find God!
I saw James 4:8 posted, so I will share:

Psalms 34:18 The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

My thoughts on your question of purpose:

2 Peter 1:3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

2 Peter 1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

2 Peter 1:5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

2 Peter 1:6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;

2 Peter 1:7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

2 Peter 1:8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

As always glad for your perspective.
