The clearest litmus test of a Christian is whether or not their life is lived in accordance with the word of God. The apostle John said, And by this we may be sure that we know him, if we keep His commandments. He who says I know but disobeys his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in them, but whosoever keeps His word, in him truly love for God is perfected.

By this we may be sure that we are in Him: he who says he abides in Him ought to walk in the same way in which He walked 1 John Two:3-6.

The characteristic of obedience to God and His word, His commandments, is the only method to discern a genuine Christian from fraud. Remember, Jesus said the same thing in different words when He declared, you will know them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thorns, or figs from thistles? So every sound tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears evil fruits. Matthew Seven: 16-17.

Look at the fruits that are produced in one's personal character and life. Compare those fruits with the word of God. Do they stack up? Do they make a perfect match?

Because how a person lives their life will prove whether or not they is a bona fide follower of the Messiah, the living Jesus Christ!

What about you? Are you a Real Christian?

Love, Walter and Debbie

I'm always amazed by how much y'all want to focus on the out ward. None of us can see the day to day life of anyone else.
If your judging yourself by these outward standards, its just sad.
You know youre a Christian by the inner witness of the Holy Spirit, which is conviction and repentance.

How exactly do we determine whether or not a person is living their (private) life according to the word of God? Just wondering...

amen ! reality checks are always welcome thanks again as usual

“For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth) proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.

Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭5:8-11, 13-17‬ ‭

“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men;

but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:10-11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.”
‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭12:13-14‬ ‭KJV‬‬
