The Bible consists of the Old Testament, Scripture before the time of Christ, and a New Testament, Scripture which includes writings about Jesus and His early Church. But the whole Bible is one story, a story in which God reveals Himself to the world. It’s said that Jesus was being written about, but hidden in the Old Testament and that He was fully revealed in the New Testament. Jesus told us that when Moses and the Prophets of the Old Testament spoke, they were speaking of Him.

And Jesus also told us that He didn’t come to change a single word of the Old Testament, but that He came to fulfill it, to elevate the Old Testament teachings to a new and higher level. Jesus entry into Jerusalem and how He fulfilled the Old Testament teaching of the Passover.

First, we need to understand a little bit about the Jewish Passover Commeration, the most important celebration of the Jewish faith.
The Jewish people were slaves for 400 years in Egypt. In order to free Israel from this slavery, God sent His Angel of Death to kill the first born sons of all Egyptian families. But to protect themselves, the Israelites were told to splatter lamb’s blood above their doors, and the Angel of Death would pass over, and not harm their families. They would be saved by the blood of the lamb.

God commanded that the Israelites observe a Passover Celebration yearly, as a remembrance that God freed them from slavery of the Egyptians. During this Passover celebration each Jewish family was to choose a lamb, one that was perfect and without blemish. Not a bone in it’s body was to be broken, but after 4 days this lamb was to be slaughtered and offered to God as a sacrificial offering.

Jesus came to fulfill the Old Covenant Passover in Jerusalem. His entry into Jerusalem would parallel the Jewish Passover and take it to a higher level of God’s Plan of Salvation. Understand that when Jesus entered Jerusalem, the city and it’s temple were the very center of all Jewish religious worship. And when Jesus entered the city it was the time of the Jewish Passover Celebration and the crowds in the city were huge.

As He approached the city, a great multitude came out to Him. The crowd went wild and chose Him as the promised Messiah of God, the One for whom they had waited thousands of years. And Jesus was the Lamb of God, perfect and without the blemish of any sin. They waved palm branches in celebration; they threw their cloaks on the path for Him to ride over. And they cried out, “Blessings on He who comes as King in the Name of the Lord. King of Israel they shouted, Hosanna to the Son of David, Hosanna in the Heavens.

Jesus entered Jerusalem and four days later, Jesus, the Lamb of God was crucified and sacrificed for the delivery of man from the death of their sins. And at the very time that Jesus was being crucified, the slaughter of the Passover lambs had begun in Jerusalem.
And to hasten Jesus’ death, it was ordered to break the bones in His legs. But, instead a spear was thrust into His side and it was clear that He was already dead. And so not a bone in His body was broken.

Man would be freed from the slavery of sin and saved by the Blood of the True Lamb of God. The perfect sacrificial offering to God, for the atonement of our sins. Saved by the Blood of the Lamb of God!!!!!!!!!!!

Another example of the Old Testament forshadowing Jesus and the New Testament, is the story of Abraham and Isaac.

Abraham was willing to sacrifice his only son Isaac, because God instructed him to, it was God's will. Isaac carried the wood, on his back, with which the sacrifice was to be made. Isaac asked his father, Abraham, where was the ram/lamb that was to be sacrificed. Abraham told him, "God Himself will provide the sacrificial lamb."

God the Father was willing to sacrifice His only Jesus, as it was His Will to do so. Jesus carried the wood of the cross on His back, the wood that the sacrifice would be made on. And, in fact, it was God Himself who provided the Sacrificial Lamb, and that Lamb was the Lamb of God, Jesus.

It is hard to find anything in the OT that doesn't foreshadow Christ. History is His-story.

Right. Jesus is prefigured in the OT, revealed in the gospels, preached in Acts, explained in the epistles, and expected in Revelation.
From beginning to end it is the Alpha and Omega.

Also, the first prophecy of the only begotten Son of God is found in the first chapter of Genesis where his Father said, let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

Because God, (declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done,) knew that by one man sin shall enter into the world, and death by sin. And so, when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

Afterwards, Adam was not in the image of God anymore. But begat sons and daughters in his own likeness, after his image. This is why God sent forth his Son and why God was manifest in the flesh. To make man in their image, after their likeness. This is one of many reasons why the Lord of glory said, all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.

Christians (saints) are people who have put off the old man with his deeds; and have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him. And how did they (by the grace of God) do that? They obeyed the apostles whom the Lord commanded to preach: Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, save yourselves from this untoward generation.

This is how they were circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: buried with him in baptism, wherein also they are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. And they, being dead in their sins and the uncircumcision of their flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven them all trespasses.

As it is written, except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
