I think Jesus tells us that there is more to faith than just belief in Matthew Cha 7:

The Two Foundations.

“Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house.s But it did not collapse; it had been set solidly on rock.

And everyone who listens to these words of mine but does not act on them will be like a fool who built his house on sand. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. And it collapsed and was completely ruined.”
The thing is most people don't act on them, and after the cross Jesus revealed to Paul the Gospel of the Grace of God that was even for the gentiles, imagine rejecting that and pretending you are still pre the cross and Jesus hadn't died for the sins of the world, Imagine rejecting the blood atonement, or trying to obey the Law and repent of your own sin that could be a fool or someone that is blind or maybe as Paul put it bewitched, So how do you "act on" when Jesus said to Love, and no greater love is there than a man lay his life down for his friends as we are talking on the forum we haven't done that lately, so yes we are to build a solid foundation = 1 Corinthians 15

Because Jesus said

I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

1 John 4:10 . . Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us,
and sent His son to be the propitiation for our sins.

To put that verse in perspective: Imagine a Coast Guard rescue chopper
poised to lower a horse collar down to someone stranded in the flood waters
of hurricane Ian. But before lowering away, they yell down: Do you love the
Coast Guard? And the victim yells back: No! I hate the Coast Guard. So the
crew of the chopper says: Sorry; we are not allowed to risk our lives for folks
who hate the Coast Guard. And they fly off to search for others in need of
assistance.

Jesus said deny yourself, take up your cross and follow Him. Obeying His commandments is good, but I know from personal experience the denying yourself part has to come first. We can't love anyone without first denying self.

Salvation is a heart issue, not a works issue. We have to put our faith into action, but actions can be performed without faith or love.

Scripture, the Bible tells us that all of God's commandments are fulfilled by love of God and neighbor. John, Cha 14:15 Jesus tells us, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments." And, at the Last Supper, Jesus asked His Disciples, "How can you say you love Me if you don't obey My commandments."

So, can we be saved if we don't love Jesus and show our love by obeying His commandments?
All things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maranatha.

How can we really tell whether or not we've been reborn into Jesus' family, God's family? Simple, Jesus gives us a very/very clear view of who is in His family:

"Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?" (Matthew) Then He answered His own question by identifying the DNA of the family of God. For whoever does the will of my Father in Heaven is my brother and sister and mother.

Jesus also told us, "Many will call Lord Lord, and will not be saved. Only those who do the Will of My Father in Heaven will be saved."

Jesus makes it quite clear that the members of His family, both in this world and the next, are those who do the Will of the Father.

And, of course, the Father's Will is to love God with your whole heart and your neighbor as yourself!

Luke 2:8-12 …And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby,
keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to
them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.
But the angel said to them: Don't be afraid. I bring you good news of great
joy that will be for all the people. Today, in the town of David, a savior has
been born to you; he is Messiah, the Lord.

The angel announced the birth of a savior; defined by Webster's as one who
rescues. We've all seen examples of rescuers-- firemen, cops, EMT
paramedics, Coast Guard units, snow patrols, and mountain rescue teams.
Rescuers typically save people who are facing imminent death and/or grave
danger and utterly incapable of moving themselves out of harms' way. In
other words: unless help arrives, they are quite doomed.

What possible "great joy" can be had with a savior who cannot guarantee a
completely free of charge, no strings attached, fail safe, sin proof, God
proof, commandment proof, human-error proof, Devil proof, leak proof, air
tight, iron clad, irrevocable, permanent rescue from the wrath of God, and
full-time protection from retribution?

But, if a savior were to be announced who guaranteed anybody who wants
it, a completely free of charge, no strings attached, fail-safe, sin proof,
commandment proof, human-error proof, God proof, Devil proof, leak proof,
air-tight, iron clad, irrevocable, permanent rescue from the wrath of God,
and full-time protection from retribution; wouldn't that qualify as good news
of great joy? I think we have to concur that news like that would not only
most certainly be good; but also cause for celebration, and for ecstatic
happiness.

How about adding Stuck on Stupid proof too? SoS-proof I think equates with those who were 'foolish'. Maybe? There was scene in a recent (!980ish?) remake of the movie about 'Scrooge' titled 'Scrooged', where the angel flutters across the stage and gives scrooge a kick in the groin "just to get his attention'. I saw the movie but didn't relate to the scene at that time.

The only question here is are we His disciples?

We believe into a relationship that is a covenant relationship. We are delivered from the power of darkness, when we are enemies of God dead in trepasses and sins. We are saved by grace through faith , when we believe on Him , He imputes to us His righteousness. We are washed with His blood . The blood is primarily for Him. He takes up residence in us and begins to work in us to will and to do of His good pleasure. We are saved by His substitution . He kept the commands, He lived sinless. He was innocent. He is our acceptance our reconciliation. He lived the perfect Christian life as our substitute. His shed blood is accepted by God . Not our keeping of Commands. His keeping of commands. If we were .999999999999percent Holy and not 100% we'd perish. God requires 100% a sinless substitue. That is why you are accepted The sinless life of Christ. Not your keeping of Commands to love, etc. When reconciled due to the imputation of the precious blood we are declared the righteouness of God by faith. From then on the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit which is given to us. I'm preaching to the choir for those older in the Lord , I hope this helps. God is Holy , Jesus is our substitue. The Lamb of God.

John 4:18. He that believes on Him is not condemned: but he that believes not is condemned already. 4:19. And this is the condemnation, that the light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. KRISIS in Greek means = condemnation. And PONEROS in Greek = active evil. Some people live life of self gratification and pride. Others dont care about God, rape, murder, stealing, idol worship, sodomy, habitual lying, bribery, witchcraft, druggies and alcoholics, ect. Following ways of the world ends in destruction. They wont repent sins to God and conform to God's standard. A child molester is not coming to the light. I'm not judging anyone. Jesus explained why wicked people stay in darkness. How can someone say I love and obey God, and refuse to come to the light. Luke 11:34. The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, the whole body also is full light; but when thy eye is evil, thy body is full of Darkness. PONEROS Greek = evil. God let's every one decide who they want to follow. You can follow Jesus or satan. Jesus leads to eternal life
And satan leads to hell. It's a fundamental choice.

Does a son's disobedience to his father's words mean that he does not love his father?

This is a question that has been on my mind today.

Did I love God enough? The bar to meet seems to be loving God with all of our heart, mind, soul, and strength. What if someone makes a mistake, did they fail? It seems like the only way to love God with the totality of our being is to be perfect, but how is that possible either? Maybe the ideal is to just keep trying.

[QUOTE="Runningman, post: 4942266, member: 294652" God works in our lives over a lifetime . We grow from being "babes in Christ" to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ. God is committed to make us like Jesus guides propels and sustains everything in the universe whether good or evil to work together for our good Romans 8:28 . Next verse. Romans 8:29 . to conform us to the image of His Son. You are kept by the power of God to salvation and God is committed to you and His purpose that you might be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding . Just ask . Need wisdom , Ask. Understanding ? Lift up you voice for understanding . Knowledge ? cry after knowledge. He will lead you and guide you if you will draw near to Him he will draw near to you. He wants you to enter into the rest to cease from your own works as God did from His. He will spend the rest of your life getting you to do one thing . TRUST HIM.

the reason im saying this is because first of all Jesus said it....John 14"15 " If youlove me kep my commandments" so how will you keep his commandments if from the word go you dont love him....The letter of 1st John 3:15 the bible says that anyone who hates his brother or sister is a murderer and no murderer will inherit eternal life ....now the book of Hebrews 2: verse 10:12 "
In bringing many sons and daughters to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through what he suffered. 11 Both the one who makes people holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters.[g] 12 He says,

“I will declare your name to my brothers and sisters;
in the assembly I will sing your praises.”[

Jesus is called our brother and he is not ashamed to be called that...so how can you not love Jesus and expect salvation...thats impossible
