Pro.6:16-19
These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:

1)A proud look
God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are Lk.18:11
If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we would not have taken part with them in shedding the blood of the prophets Mt.23:30

2) a lying tongue
ye have heard his blasphemy. Mt.26:65

3) and hands that shed innocent blood,
the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers: Act.7:52

4) An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations,
And the chief priests and scribes sought how they might kill him Lk.22:2

5) feet that be swift in running to mischief,
And they that had laid hold on Jesus led him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled. Mt.26:57

6) A false witness that speaketh lies,
False witnesses did rise up; they laid to my charge things that I knew not. Psa.35:11

7) and he that soweth discord among brethren.
Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he keepeth not the sabbath day Jn.9:16

Our dear gentle Savior said,

O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? Mk.9:19

And that was to his disciples. When we consider how much Jesus, our Creator, had to put with on a daily basis, it's almost inconceivable.
How did our Lords sacrifice turn from repenting of the wrong done to him, to Christ being punished in place of sinners?

Would we have ever realized the severity of the punishment of our transgression if it were not for Jesus, the unblemished lamb, enduring it? Or the intensity of the mercy that He procured for us that escape judgment through His sacrifice?

Amen.

The extreme horror of the cure really does bring out the severity of our depravity without Him. Without holiness no man shall see the Lord, and without the Lord, no man can experience holiness within.

It's stunning how he endured all that abuse without killing his attackers. Talk about displaying mercy!
