Maybe some people think God is trying to sell us stuff...? Or maybe Hes the CEO of coca-cola. er...?!

I look at those machines and go, whatver, if I need a drink I can just go fill up my own bottle with water from the tap.

Most people if you ask will give you a free cup of water or offer to fill it. Nobody needs to drink that much sugar water or use so much throway plastic bottles.

A vending machine only gives you stuff if you feed it money.

God never asks for my money. He's not a machine. Salvation is free.

I used to do a talk, not a sermon, but a talk where I explained what the phrase "milk and honey" meant to me. I'm not saying this is the actual meaning, but just that it really carries me at times.

I equate milk with life and honey with happiness. Milk is what sustains us when we are little, that is why, to me, milk is associated with life. Honey is not a necessity, it is a sweetener, it makes things taste better. So, God is promising us that he will take care of our daily needs (milk), but he is also promising that it is a life that we will enjoy (honey).

The complicated part is that when God gives us a life that we will enjoy, I don't take that to mean he will give us whatever we ask for. He knows better what will make us happy. He will find ways in what seems like our lowest moments to bring us joy and happiness. We just have to let him. But sometimes we've already decided what will make us happy and we just won't let God take over.

So, I just have to remind myself to trust God. He'll supply my needs and he'll make sure I have a wonderful life. Even when I don't see it, he'll always be there for me.

In the Bible it does say that too much honey is NOT a good thing.

I'll post the verse when I find it.

However I do know there is another verse that mentions moderation. But there isnt actually one that says in all things use moderation like ppl say all the time.

No verses about vending machines or macDonalds or hamburgers, I think preachers try to just add those things to try and be 'relevant' like assuming we are all junkfood eating slobs.

Than don't ask him for anything.
While it is true that God is the fount of every blessing and every good and perfect gift comes down from the Father of lights, it is also true that you exist for God and not Him for you. I do believe we ask to little of God and considering Who He is and what He can do, we all ought to pray for much larger than we do. But our prayers should be like all things: for the glory of God.
The problem comes in as one becomes discontented in God because He answers according to His will and not ours. Ask until your heart is content, but be satisfied in God's provision.
Godliness with contentment is great gain.

He does not rate one over the other. He said both are good.
I Corinthians 7

33 But he that is married careth for the things that are of the world, how he may please his wife.
34 There is difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband.
35 And this I speak for your own profit; not that I may cast a snare upon you, but for that which is comely, and that ye may attend upon the Lord without distraction.

and

37 Nevertheless he that standeth stedfast in his heart, having no necessity, but hath power over his own will, and hath so decreed in his heart that he will keep his virgin, doeth well.
38 So then he that giveth her in marriage doeth well; but he that giveth her not in marriage doeth better.

The issue could be interpreted as marrying one's betrothed or marrying off one's daughter.

My View

God is not a vending machine for just giving whatever a person asks for ------the scripture clearly lays out who's prayers will be answered and who's worn't ---and what prayers will be answered and how we are to pray them -----

So anyone who thinks they can just pray any old way they want to and get what they pray for by God are being deceived by Satan -----

This word Christian is misused and abused today -----many who use this term are not Saints but are sinners ----and God does not hear the prayers of Sinners according to Scripture

There would be much more contentment in my life if I were married. I could do much more.

He rains on the just and the unjust alike.
I've known people who were deep in sin, yet GOD still blessed them.

I know that's what you believe and perhaps it is so. Or it could lead you to do less. Better to make your request known unto God and leave the outcomes to Him. Proverbs 3:5-6

If you're not content now, you won't be content if you're married either. I know that's not what you want to hear.

"Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Philippians 4:11-13

No matter how you slice it/look at it, comparing the God of all the world, Lord of the universe to a vending machine shows a lack of understanding. It makes God small, & it definitely doesn't give Him the glory due His great Name.

Talking about putting God in a box!! The only difference is this one has a window in it!! (n)
