How should we pray? (Part 4)

In other words, what is the purport of our asking: increase in Jesus or in the world?

See the example of Ananias and Sapphira: both were dead by Peter’s word because they lied to the Holy Spirit. This brought much fear to Jesus’ Church:

• Act 5:9-11 -> “But Peter said to her, “How is it that you have agreed together to test the Spirit of the Lord? Behold, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out.” Immediately she fell down at his feet and breathed her last. When the young men came in they found her dead, and they carried her out and buried her beside her husband. And great fear came upon the whole church and upon all who heard of these things.”.

So, we are praying so that:

• we can be free of all problem and has a quiet life in this world or so that
• He can bring to us every circumstance which will allow us to increase in holiness and purity and, thus, His name can be sanctified in the life of people around us?

As we can see in the case of Nadab and Abihu, the Creator wish to be sanctified among those who are near Him:

• Lev 10:1-3 -> “Now Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, each took his censer and put fire in it and laid incense on it and offered unauthorized fire before the LORD, which he had not commanded them. And fire came out from before the LORD and consumed them, and they died before the LORD. Then Moses said to Aaron, “This is what the LORD has said: ‘Among those who are near me I will be sanctified, and before all the people I will be glorified.’” And Aaron held his peace.”.

In other words, the Creator desires to use our life so that His name can be feared and used only for His glory.

Tomorrow we will keep on. Have a good day in Christ Jesus.
