I've heard many equate baptism with circumcision as the sign of the New Covenant. However, I think I must take exception to this.

We have no record that Jesus' glorified body exhibited any wounds save those on His hands and side. These wounds remain as the sign of the New Covenant and remind us of His sacrifice.

When we observe the Lord's supper, we're reminded of His body and blood which were sacrificed for us. When we are baptized, we also die with Him by faith and are raised with Him.

"But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed." Isaiah 53:5

Physical circumcision was (Old Testament) putting to death the flesh (foreskin) that separates the man from covenant with God.

Baptism (New Testament) symbolises being buried with Christ, putting to death our fleshly, sinful nature, and being raised alive in Christ.

I find the symbolism similar, although baptism is more inclusive. While circumcision/baptism was/is a one-off event, passover/communion is a continual reminder of Jesus' sacrifice for us.

Jesus was circumcised as a matter of custom, but it is not salvational as pertaining to you and I having it done. As has been stated, it is symbolic of higher things.

Luke 2:21
“And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb.”

Jesus endured many things that we do not have to.

Personally, I don't think I shall be giving Jesus a physical examination of such nature when I get there. It doesn't matter to me.

Our Lord gave Moses the information about the covenant God has with man. In order to tell man about it in ways he understood, symbolism was used. Things of the flesh were to explain things of the spirit, like cutting of flesh to explain cutting away the fleshly world, as an example.

When Christ came, Christ brought the holy spirit to teach man the covenants. Christ changed the fleshly explanations into spiritual ones. We are not to use the symbols any longer, for the reality is Christ. We are to go directly to Christ.

paul actually is who equates the two one was physical one is spiritual

“And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: in whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭2:10-12‬ ‭KJV‬‬

the epistles aren’t creating mystery to interpret but they are explaining what things mean

“Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭2:12-14‬ ‭

everything in the ot was a flesh example of the nt circumcision is just one example

The new covenant began with the death of Christ. Read Hebrews 9:16-17

16For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. 17For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.
