1 John Four

1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.

15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.

16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.

18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

19 We love him, because he first loved us.

20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?

21 And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.

Not sure what the intent is, but it appears to be inferring that confession alone saves you, which it doesn't. Please clarify.

Hello DJT, After reading the chapter, did you get the context of verse 15? I John 4:15 says, "Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God." The context is obviously our union with God, as the words "abide" and "in" confirm. Verse 16 continues the thought: "And we have known and believed the love that God has for us.

Still not clear. Im not sure what your intent was in this posting. Are you inferring confession alone saves you by your citing of the one scripture? Yes or no. If yes, that's not true. There are more elements required for salvation when all pertinent scriptures are taken into consideration. Also note he's writing to brethren (1 john 2:7), so those being written to have already been saved. Just to keep things within context.

Love reading Paul is how he always says “ it is written “ we can then go find that quote and read the whole prophecy seeing what he’s meaning to say and what he’s really conveying

I never understood the prophets until noticed this in the apostles writings and never really understood the apostles writings until I noticed that about the prophets like two witnesses or two testaments working together to speak one cohesive message about Jesus beforehand and after he came

If one believes with his heart and confesses with his mouth he shall be saved.
The confession is made from the converted heart. The converted heart is the begining of salvation. As fear of The Lord is the begining of wisdom.
