I think I have had a different experience. I am divorced but it was totalky my fault. I grew up in church and I knew better because I knew my husband was not saved. I did what I wanted to do. Since my divorce I have ran toward God with everything I have. I have seen our youth group run after God. My preachers son is hitting the streets doing ministry and preaching when asked. I am surrounded by a group of young people that are truly in love with God. That makes the difference. It doesn’t matter if you are a preachers kid or if you sit on the back row. What matters is your relationship with God! Trust me people are known by the fruits they bare. I think many times we compromise with things we know aren’t right just so we do not have to be alone. Don’t settle! I deal with broken women all time and I tell them you have got to get to a point to where you say He is enough! The Bible says to seek Him first and everything else will be added unto you. You also have to be ok if God says no. He is enough! The joy of the Lord is my strength! My joy does not come from man. I am not trying to be harsh. I know for myself I always had to have someone. I let my mate define me. I had to wake up and realize that I am the bride of Christ. My focus turned to wanting to see souls saved instead of focusing on a mate.
why did you have to HAVE someone...I knew from a young age that having someone would be a cause of endless pain, even in primary school the girls were having dramas over boys and bffs. its better to be good friends and get along with others then to possess people and monopolise them.

Being alone isnt a death sentence, there are times when its a relief.

I think a lot of loneliness is due to the living environment rather than relationships. People seem to not value their quiet times, its kind of weird.

There needs to be a balance from the times you are social to the times when you need to be by yourself.

I think the way society secularizes everything even Christians forget that we were made to fellowship with God, to worship God, and its those missing social aspects that drive us to relationships with the wrong person.

Their is some truth to that, but then their are some people who are alone all the time and that is unhealthy to be isolated all the time.

whatver happened to singles groups with no pressure to be married or paired off. Men and women often get quite toxic when they are alone together. its not healthy, and its also dangerous. Also happens with intense same sex friendships too.

Why is it, you just being friendly with someone and then they start to think you belong to them and they take up ALL your time. We are called to be FREE not captive. But freedom doesnt mean you take advantage of someone.

Perhaps its the secularizing of society that has ruined peoples way of thinking, an evil tree brings forth evil fruit.

I dont know, I like to think Im too smart to understand stupidity lol

But honestly, a world view without God will only lead to distruction it was Jesus who came to seek and save the lost

I guess. But how does one keep the faith and be Christlike when forced to go through system that rejects Christ and teaches everything but Christ?

you are not forced to go through a system...when you are born again, you are FREE

Forced marriages only really happen now in Islamic nations under sharia law.

I wasnt talking about marrage, I was referring to people sending their kids to public schools. Kids have to go because parents make them go.

Christians in West Aus are quite rare. Many people in Aus are aethiests or are heavily into new age. Maybe over east it is a little better but definitely not in the west.

well yes where else are they going to send them? Do you want to them to work as child slaves?

what has that even got to do with dating.

apparently australia has over six million catholics. NZ isnt even on the list.

There are two catholic high schools up the road from me, the girls one has a reputation for bullying and the boys one treats their librarian really bad. They are trying to ban books there and do her out of a job.

Sorry having trouble keeping up with the whole conversation, but it looks like from back tracking conversations is how secularism is affecting current thoughts and beliefs on biblical principals, from dating to marrage.

isnt dating just a license to fornicate for most people before marriage anyway

For christians we are meant to abstain from fornication. Many people are unable to do this.

It used to be personal ads might say 'dating with a view to marriage' or 'long term relationship' but its quite often a euphemism for people just wanting to go to bed with someone else.
