Biblically speaking, did eclipses have any significance? I know there will be the astronomical signs at the end of the age, the blood moon, blackened sun, but are these actually eclipses? And if they are, does that have any bearing on other eclipses?
What would it be given to indicate? I can't think of anything in Scripture to teach this.

So I'm going with, interesting, but not given as a sign, is what I think.

Much love!

Welcome!
:)

I believe at least one did have some significance (or in other words, was by design) in that,
due to Passover always always always being on a full moon, that nobody could then say the
three hours of darkness as Christ was on the cross was caused by a solar eclipse (as some non-
believers would like to assert), since such during a full moon is a cosmological impossibility :)

There are also these verses:

Ezekiel 32:7
“And when I extinguish you,
I will cover the heavens and darken their stars;
I will cover the sun with a cloud
And the moon will not give its light.

Joel 2:10
Before them the earth quakes,
The heavens tremble,
The sun and the moon grow dark
And the stars lose their brightness.

Joel 2:31
“The sun will be turned into darkness
And the moon into blood
Before the great and awesome day of the Lord comes.

Joel 3:15
The sun and moon grow dark
And the stars lose their brightness.

Matthew 24:29
“But immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will
not give its light, and the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

Mark 13:24
“But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened and the moon will not give its light,

Revelation 6:12
I looked when He broke the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquake; and the
sun became black as sackcloth made of hair, and the whole moon became like blood;

Revelation 8:12
The fourth angel sounded, and a third of the sun and a third of the moon and
a third of the stars were struck, so that a third of them would be darkened and
the day would not shine for a third of it, and the night in the same way.

Actually my last post is about the impossibility of an eclipse being a valid explanation :giggle:

Yes, that's a good point!

I find the same thing about the sixth seal opening, that the sun is blackened, and the moon turned to blood, you can't ascribe these to eclipses, unless some celestial body were passing between sun and earth during a lunar eclipse. And this would apply the same in Joel 3.

I'm thinking that eclipses remind people of what God said about those prophetic signs, and get nervous.

Much love!

Wow great feedback from this thread. From doodley squat to irrelevant.
I wonder if the jews back in the day took this view with the star of david over Bethlehem?
God has used the blood moon as a sign in many events in the past. According to his appointed times.
I still see no feedback of the 3am occurrence which is bibical also.
Oh I agree the blood moon and occurrences in the heavens happen probably every day in one form or another and go unnoticed or only by those who study the heavens.
Are we to just discard the happenings now? Think not.
As I pointed to the event of Jesus's birth which is the greatest event ever went unnoticed by those that considered there selves to be in touch with God and his ways.
So is it random to have a blood moon and its occurrence on a watch that is recorded in the old and the new to be significant.
Dealing with world wide events in our time now? Where good is evil and evil good not just in america but world wide.
World wide pandemic, violence, hatred, chaos, economic collapes, a world government agenda.
Oh I suppose you can say its happened before but what some are missing is that the regathering of the jews back into their land just as God promised. That my friend has never happend for Israel to be declared its own nation.
God...the GOD of the bible is a never changing God. His ways are not our ways.
This election is not about equality, or abortion rights, nor is it about reducing inflation, or making our streets safe again
Its about returning back to the Lord and his ways by acknowledging him as our creator and maker of heaven and earth. Bringing back the founding bibical principles.
As i posted in another thread. Will God stay his hand of judgement for america and the nations or will he continue to bring the end to his wrath?
If he chooses the later can you honestly say you will be counted worthy to escape that which is to come.
Have you done all that he has asked of you?
What of your family and friends? Have you delivered the good news to them?
Is your trust in him and him alone? You may know him.....but does he know you?
There is always a harvest moon in November they are typical from september through december. Nothing new there other than ninny nannies now calling it a blood moon; which i cant say is new. Its been all my life. The only significance of a harvest moon is that it is time to harvest crops.
As for the evil and violence and corruption well thats not new either. Neither is dirty politics. What we have to remember is to be about the things Jesus has assigned us until He returns. He also warned us that He is coming as a thief in the night, that is with out sign or warning. He even said, as for the coming of the Son of Man, there is no sign.
But the world will go on with wars and rumors of wars and all the usuall things common to the fallen man.
None of earthly politics are a sign of anything but the continual wickedness of humanity. Jesus will return and we He does He needs to find us working and worshipping and dealing in mercy and grace and compassion and living and teaching the gospel.

It depends on what you mean by supernatural. There are many false prophets, and many false signs and wonders.

If indeed this is the first ever occurrence of a blood moon on an election day, then I would be willing to believe it could be some kind of sign; or, it could just be a coincidence. I'm not quick to jump on the false prophecy bandwagon. There's nothing supernatural at all to say there will be a turning back to God. I could say something like that, and anyone could find something that "fulfills" it.
Supernatural is not the visible, physical, atomic, universe that we see and know. Not scientific, not observable, cannot be measured, or even defined.

That is why we cannot see angels or demons, the upper heavens or even God Himself in His glory.

In the past ten years, there have been many red moons, which is abnormal. Because I had never heard of the Red Moon before, except in the Bible, but I could not fully relate this phenomenon to the things described in the Bible. What do you think?

um.... you DID ask for people's thoughts and opinions, did you not?
Or, did you just want a bunch of people to see things the same way you do and agree with you?

Personally, I don't think those two "happenings" mean anything at all with the election in the United States. I could be wrong, but you did ask for opinions.

Just found it very intresting and believe it is a sign from the Lord. Wanted to share it to see if anyone thought the same.
I believe Signs in the heavens still exsist and all of them are not layed out in scripture.
In the past 2 plus years many things have effected the whole earth not just in a certain region. Some just ignor these events and reguard it as a cycle of life theroy sorta speak.
But if you listen closely to the reports of the happenings you hear phrases like : never before seen:.....suddenly....unusual...strange. These things catch my attention.
Many here study end time prophecy and are very indepth and have very good understandings but the question i have is what leads up to the great tribulation? What leads up to the time of sorrows? What causes mens hearts to wax cold?
Jesus said when you see these things increase not only in there destruction but also in there frequency to look up for your redemption draws near.
The difference that is forgotten is that the regathering of Israel has begun and continues. Never before seen. A nation born in one day. Time of the gentiles are drawing to a close. Jesus points to that generation.
Anyways enough about my beliefs and understanding.....are we ready? Have we done all that is required to escape the wrath to come?
Or has the Lord found grace and given mercy to stay his hand for such a time as this.
