John 5:19...Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, the Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.

What things did Jesus see the Father doing?

The Lord Jesus was directed by visions during His earthly ministry...Hence He was obedient in following out the individual vision which the Father showed Him.

I appreciate you taking the time to answer. Do you know of any other texts to support your position?

What things did Jesus see the Father doing?
Things no man has ever saw and heard but those who look to Jesus and hear his word it’s from heaven

“If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things? And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.

….He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all. And what he hath seen and heard, that he testifieth; and no man receiveth his testimony.

He that hath received his testimony hath set to his seal that God is true. For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him.

The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand. He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.”
‭‭John‬ ‭3:12-13, 31-36‬ ‭

Jesus was speaking and doing new things not of this world but of the heavens and he came from there to teach us those things we couldn’t know and see

“Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.”
‭‭John‬ ‭18:37‬ ‭KJV‬‬

there’s a lot we can’t see and hear unless we look at Jesus and hear the gospel of we start hearing the gospel we are seeing and hearing what Jesus was hearing and seeing the idea is if we look at him we can see and know God because he is one

“Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.”
‭‭John‬ ‭14:9-

so consider what jesusnis saying there and then this

“And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.”
‭‭John‬ ‭11:43-44‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Who’s word called a dead man to life ? Who’s word does the works ? “the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.”

God is a spirit we as flesh and blood cannot ever know him flesh and spirit are opposed

“God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”
‭‭John‬ ‭4:24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

in order for man to know God he came from heaven , became flesh and walked among us on earth . he taught us man to
Man his word and said believe and live forever

the gospel is what Jesus saw and heard and then spoke and announced Tony’s who believe

John 5:19-22 . . I assure you, the Son can do nothing by himself. He does
only what he sees the Father doing. Whatever the Father does, the Son also
does. For the Father loves the Son and tells him everything He is doing, and
the Son will do far greater things than healing this man. You will be
astonished at what he does. He will even raise from the dead anyone he
wants to, just as the Father does.

It's commonly believed that The Word came into the world as a fully
competent divine man. But I'm of the opinion that Phil 2:6-7 says he came
as an ordinary man. Consequently the Word's flesh (John 1:14) needed
divine training on his path towards becoming a divine being, i.e. Jesus was,
and no doubt still is, serving with God as an apprentice; and as such under
constant tutoring, grading, and micromanagement.

John 6:38 . . I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will, but
the will of Him who sent me

John 8:29 . . He that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me
alone; for I do always those things that please Him.

John 14:31 . . I do exactly what my Father has commanded me.

What things did Jesus see the Father doing?

The many miracles that Jesus performed were demonstrations of his ability
to duplicate God's handiwork, i.e. the healings, the feedings, the
resurrections, the teachings, the transformation of water into wine, water
supporting a man's steps, etc. those were all things that Jesus had seen
done by his Father at one time or another-- either in real time or in the
Bible; for example water supporting a man's steps can be seen replicated in
2Kngs 6:6.

God is not only Jesus' tutor, but also his role model. For example:
the Father has entrusted all judgment to His son (John 5:22) For that
reason, people really ought to be scared of Christ because he intends to
go about the business of judging no differently than the fire and brimstone
practices of the God of the Old Testament, by whom Jesus has been trained
to take the reins.

Isa 11:4-5 . . He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; with the
breath of his lips he will slay the wicked. Righteousness will be his belt
and faithfulness the sash around his waist.

I appreciate your response. Do you believe Jesus saw things only for Him or can all Christians see what He saw?
“If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.

Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?

Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.”
‭‭John‬ ‭14:7-12‬ ‭

“Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his Lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.”
‭‭John‬ ‭15:14-15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

yes brother my belief is we can only know and see God and what he’s wanting us to know by hearing accepting and believing Jesus and all the gospel tells us about salvation

I believe the gospel is how we can know those things

Give ear, O my people, to my law: Incline your ears to the words of my mouth. I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old:”
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭78:1-

“All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them: That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭13:34-35‬ ‭KJV‬‬

those are the things Jesus heard and saw the heavenly things men can’t see and know unless it’s by faith

“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭10:17‬ ‭

brother I think to “ see” shoild
Be considered as a spiritual knowledge and not literally seeing something. Remember “I once was blind but now I see “ I once was in the dark but now the light shines “ “ I once couldn’t know God but now Jesus has made himself known “

none of us physically see and hear Jesus but we hear and believe the gospel and see by faith the truth of Christ seeing by faith ( what he declared and said to believe ) and not by physical sight of what we physically see but rather , what we heard and believed of Jesus and his promises in the gospel it’s how we can start to believe in his kingdom only when we start to see it and hear by faith

“And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭17:20-21‬ ‭KJV‬‬

there’s a kingdom in us in our hearts where Christ needs to sit upon the throne of our life we can hear and see him spiritually as in having real solid evidentiary faith in us of the truth of those things Jesus promised and swore by himself would be given to believers who repent and believe the gospel

so the actual seeing in my opinion will happen after we part this world and enter the kingdom prepared for us for our spirits then we will see as he sees , until then we see and know in part through the hearing of faith

“For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭13:9-13‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Jesus saw fully but we only see the things he revealed To us that’s our sight and our hearing as chrirtians of those unseen things until we arrive alive and well with him

Brother Cameron, first as you know the Jews were ready to kill Jesus as he placed himself equal to the Father. What I believe he saw is talked about in verse20-23, HE JUDGES!!!! Not the Father, I believe Jesus saw his great works about to come to pass to bring LIFE to all who believe in him! He says this plainly in verse 24. Hope this helps, a fine question as well brother!

In fact, what Jesus saw was the will of God, the will of God performed by Jesus, not the will of Jesus himself.

Maybe I should attempt to clarify. And thanks for responding.
In Jesus' life He moved from place to place and taught and performed miracles and healed and so forth. But He didn't go everywhere or teach everyone or always perform miracles or heal.
So how did He know when to and when not to? What was God doing that Jesus recognized that led to Him joining God in what He was doing?

Because God is with Jesus, you can understand that God has been teaching Jesus since Jesus was born. A father teachs his only son.But it's not that simple.

John 10
25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me.
26 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.
27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never** perish, neither* shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.
30 I and my Father are one.
