This is some of the best advice that I feel Christians now-a-days could really use. One of my favorites that can be used so often when talking with new Christians.
amen I think if we don’t limit it to two sentences it has a much more edifying effect sort of allowing what’s being said to sink in
“Now
we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men. See t
hat none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.
Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
Quench not the Spirit. Despise not prophesyings.
Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil. And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your
whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
1 Thessalonians 5:14-15, 17-23 KJV
if we allow what Paul’s saying to be what he’s saying it’s actually teaching us important things this speaks very different
“Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
When you remove this part where oil began the exhortation to Christians
“Now
we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men. See t
hat none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men. “
What I mean is all that’s also gods will for us not just to rejoice and pray but to act right as well
