Angels seen during the 2011 Joplin Tornado.....?

Just happened to run across this story. Interesting to say the least.

Is this the way a new religion gets started? Maybe someone saw something and then someone else claims the same and on and on and somebody gets their podcast going. Tragic events can do that. Or they want to compete with 'Coast to Coast' from Pahrump, Ca.

This is true. But the bit of the links I listened to sounds more like someone trying to 'capitalize' on a tragic event. That is also a reality.

I saw the one about kids reporting "Butterfly people" and I know He sends His angels to guard His own. He promised to do so and He always keeps His promises.

OOPS!!...I heard the statement somewhere or read it somewhere but searching the KJV and the search is negative for "compassed about'.
I know there is a fight in the OT, 2 kings 6 where the unseen were made to be seen. i.e. Chariots of fire and horses. And the book of Hebrews mentions a "cloud of witnesses" here>>>

Hebrews 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

I think the witnesses may refer to all that actually were observers of Jesus's crucifixion. Not certain?

My own experience with "ministering spirits" as described here in Hebrews 1: 14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?>>>>>>is what brought me around to accepting Jesus as my Savior and the realization that the Bible is the "Word of God". So I know there are 'unseen' beings but the 'butterfly' people is coming across as fabrication. Nothing Biblical to support the stories.

So now it seems that I wrote too soon. See other post. Angels do exist but not certain as to 'compassing about'.

yes we are indeed surrounded by the other dimensions, and they can be aware of this realm as well, if He chooses to make it available to them.
Remembering that now we see through a glass darkly, but someday, face to face.

There's some crazy stuff out there. I watched something the other day about Vietnam, and the first night vision goggles. Apparently, the soldiers kept seeing gatherings of demons, and they ended up changing the design of the goggles. Not sure if it's true (like the butterfly people), but often, there's at least elements of truth in these stories.

Compassing about biblically just means surrounded by. Secularly, it probably is a nice way of saying your lost.

Are you from Joplin? I lived near there in 2011 when it hit. Thankfully all we experienced was high winds and hail.

Why is this controversial? We are told that there are angels and demons in the Bible. We are told that each believer has an angel that is protecting them. So we know there are a lot of angels all over the world.

There is the verse which Satan quoted while tempting Jesus that the angels would protect Him and keep Him from dashing His foot against the rock. In my own life I have had four times when it seems certain there was an intervention by angels to keep my foot from dashing against the ground.

When I see the Lord I plan on putting in a good word for the angel they have protecting me.

No verses in KJV with angels 'compassed'. 44 verses with the word 'compassed', most like unto those here posted. 39 verses with the word 'compass' and some are about 'song' and 'mercy' but again more negative it seems. Now I don't see anyone else posting scripture but various productions of uncertain media. And the Bible makes no mention of 'butterfly people'.

The fact that angels exist is Biblical but the media, some person with equipment and knowhow, starts with "butterfly people" can be a bit much. Post scriptural support not secular ideas. There are additional verses with the root compass, but not indicative of angels.

There well may have been angels to aid the people of Joplin but media probably started the non-Biblical terminology. Then secularists, particularly comedians, use this as material to denigrate Christianity. Just google the raunchy work of George Carlin and likely he has successors who continue that trash.


Psalms 18:5 The sorrows of hell compassed me about: the snares of death prevented me.

Psalms 22:16 For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.

Psalms 40:12 For innumerable evils have compassed me about: mine iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of mine head: therefore my heart faileth me.

Psalms 88:17 They came round about me daily like water; they compassed me about together.

Psalms 109:3 They compassed me about also with words of hatred; and fought against me without a cause.

Psalms 116:3 The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of hell gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow.

Psalms 118:10 All nations compassed me about: but in the name of the LORD will I destroy them.

Psalms 118:12 They compassed me about like bees; they are quenched as the fire of thorns: for in the name of the LORD I will destroy them.

If the details of the testimony are true, there should be more available. It sounds like there are were many who used those goggles. The devices were decommissioned, but there are still plenty of vets alive who would have spoken about them.

Satan was familiar with that verse because the passage applied to that serpent, that dragon, that lion who seeks who he may devour. The Lord's answer was perfect.

When you go back to Psalm 91 it's like BOOM! BOOT TO THE HEAD!!!

"12They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. 13Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet."

This passage says the angels came down for a time but then they went back up into the heavens.
