Tribal and identify politics has infected and taken over the internet. To the point where it’s impossible to have any nuanced discussion about complex issues we face. If you find yourself saying “liberals always do Y” or “conservatives always do X” then congratulations you’re part of the problem. People just want to pick a side and that's it and avoid any nuanced or objective conversation. How is tribalism the way to go in society and why do people gravitate towards that more?

Have you been asleep over the last decade, like Rip Van Winkle? The days of objective news and objective conversations are long gone. The days of global tyranny and daily lies are in place. When medical science itself has become one big lie, there is nothing left except to expose the lies. And if you are not exposing the lies THEN YOU ARE A PART OF THE PROBLEM.

Also the term "tribalism" is being used pejoratively to describe those who stand for any values, whether conservative or Christian. But the opposite of "tribalism" is globalism, and the wicked globalist elites want to enslave the world while they enjoy themselves. So they come up with various crises to put fear and panic into the hearts of the "sheeple".

The COVID Scamdemic proved to the elites that it is extremely easy to manipulate the masses with lies. So there is now a Climate Change Scamdemic to destroy nations and individuals, and only a handful of Satanists is manipulating this scenario. The role of the media or "the press" was to expose these lies and manipulations, but the media themselves are a part of the conspiracy to destroy everything and they thrive on lies and manipulation.

You think the only difference between right & wrong is a nuance?

I think the above posts reflect a growing understanding that tribalism as you call it inherently is confrontational and not inclusive.
To nuance issues there must first be a modicum of agreement. This is no longer the case. It isn't that we disagree on the best way to implement a particular ideal, we no longer share the same ideals.
Everyone used to agree on what the definition of a woman is. Everyone used to recognize that marriage was between a man and a woman.
I could go on but I'm guessing most will get the point.

Well, Democrats pretty much do always do X and Republicans always do Y. If you want a nuanced discussion go right ahead but it won't change the way they do business in DC.

File this under "I wish this were a joke"

NZSIS just published indicators of violent extremists, how to identify them and who to send your report to.

One of the indicators:

Develops a hostile ‘Us-VersusThem’ worldview X Makes dehumanising, hostile or violent statements against individuals or groups they perceive as ‘the enemy’ or the ‘other’.

"Battle of the sexes", "woman, smarter", these are big indicators! This is what they refer to as "violent messaging".

We can wake people up by exposing their propaganda. A lot of times people don't know they're being lied to or don't want to know, rather. The world is much easier when everything is as it seems. Quite frankly, a lot of people just don't want to be woken up.

The problem I have with this statement is that it doesn't acknowledge what the Left has become: Fascist. In 2003, "dissent was the highest form of patriotism" according to them. Now, if you dissent from their views, you need to be silenced, fired and/or arrested or assaulted... or worse.

This has taken normal lib/cons debates to a whole new level, and has made civil discourse impossible. The issue is this: political conservatives and liberals have more in common with each other than either does with the progressives currently in power. This is because progressivism's goal is totalitarian power. It is Amerca's fascist movement, and with that there can be no "nuance" or civlity. Just outright resistance.

Why this is not more apparent to Christians -- and even many political conservatives -- in the US, and West in general, is truly puzzling, and alarming, to me.

Well, the progressives have done an outstanding job calling the conservatives the fascists. They did this with intensity and frequency for years. Now, I think most people believe it because they are actually quite historically and politically illiterate - their only source of politics being talking heads on the news. The news is about opinion shaping, not about revealing facts and allowing readers/listeners to come to a conclusion.

On top of repackaging and rebranding fascism under entirely different names, many people don't really plainly see what is happening even if the delivery is the same.

Notice they use terms like "cancel culture" just one example of many. Well, cancel culture actually just textbook fascism to silence political opponents through fear and punishment. Their televising of these events with frequency isn't an accident nor is their silence when one of their own does something horrible.

As others have said, this isn’t 1996 anymore.

I think Cameron's statement gets right to the heart of the matter.

If one side in a debate believes: truth does not exist, morals don't exist, objective reality does not exist, and words have no objective meaning... there is quite literally no discussion to be had.

It's like this:

1.) If your first presupposition is to eliminate the existence of truth... then logically, nothing rational, or even understandable, has the ability to follow.

2.) If your first presupposition is to claim you are irrational... there is no conversation to be had.

The bigger problem is... this is intentional.

There's Biblical and there's non-biblical.
God's Word is the standard of right and wrong. The whole world lieth in wickedness.
Whoever is part of a tribe should line up with the Word regardless of their tribal distinctives. Paul reached many tribes, became all things to all men, yet told them they needed to turn from the idols they trusted in to trust in the living God.
Globalism is altogether a wicked concept as the tower of Babel. It's easy for Satan to gain control of the world with a world government and unified religion.
When the singers got together to sing, We Are the World, they weren't kidding. The Bible tells us believers,

"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."

When people have asked what I am, I tell them a Biblicist. That supercedes any cultural or "racial" boundaries. People still try to use their virtue signaling of the worldly false substitutes for the Word of God, their false standards. They are the world, but we are not of the world . ... We are of the Word.
