How many times do we find ourselves having little time to serve the Lord, whether it is through tithing, prayer or ushering? We often complain that the Lord demands too much of our time when we serve in church as musicians and look at our watches when the preacher preach a little too long for our liking. The time we spent on our television and books on secular subjects are way more than the time we spent with the Lord reading the bible or praying. Yet, we still think so highly of ourselves as Christians and think if ever we are persecuted for the Lord, we will not betray Him as we truly love the Lord! Do we truly love Him?
Why are we not spending more time with Him, then? Why are we not praying longer, tithing more, or serving in the church more? Why are we not taking an active stand against abortions and homosexuality, if we truly do not fear to be persecuted? Why are we not actively sharing the gospels with non-believers? Why are we hiding in our own little Christian corner instead of confronting the world for its wickedness? Why don't we speak out more against evil? Is it a wonder society is losing their sense of right and wrong, and having no fear of God?
It is time to repent and admit that we do not truly love the Lord! Then, we need to slowly take steps to love Him more. Start by spending more time with Him reading the bible or praying. Then, slowly, one step at a time, do the other things!

Howdy chong and welcome to the forum.

I'm Lynx, a freelance nerd and the resident music geek. I usually have a song in mind for any given topic.

Your posts have a distinctly recriminatory feeling to them. Do you scowl a lot when you type them? I know some preachers who look angry when they are preaching. When people ask them about it they always say the same thing: "I preach better when I'm angry." Oh well, whatever works for them.

Anyway, here's the song for this thread.

Thought-provoking post.

Is it possible that many who profess to know Christ don't really believe in the resurrection of the dead? I'm asking because so many not only avoid persecution in general, but especially persecution which might lead to death.

I've mentioned recently that I believe that the Lord is preparing me for an extended time alone with him in prayer in which I'll need to cut off all distractions for a good week or so. I must admit that there is some fear and trepidation on my part because I know how my times seriously set apart unto the Lord always seem to turn out. It always seems to end with even more self-sacrifice on my part and much more persecution as well. However, it always seems to involve some genuine fruit being produced in the lives of others as well, and that needs to be our goal.

Luke 12:4
And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.

Luke 12:5
But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.
