Jonathan Cahn has made this idea popular in his books and interviews. The idea goes like this: The Pilgrims on the Mayflower saw themselves as the "new Israel"; and, like ancient Israel, they were in a covenant relationship with God, patterned after God's covenant with Israel. For example:

"No, long before the Founding Fathers. Those who laid America’s foundations saw it as a new Israel, an Israel of the New World. And as with ancient Israel, they saw it as in covenant with God." The Harbinger, p. 19.

"The Bible records that God made a covenant with Israel. The case of America is different. But we do know that America’s founders made a covenant with God, based on Israel’s covenant with God." The Harbinger II, PDF pp. 100-101

"Most would find it surprising to learn that America was consciously, intentionally, and specifically founded and formed after the pattern of ancient Israel. Its founders saw it as a new Israel, the Israel of the New World." The Mystery of the Shemitah, p. 57
Unfortunately, Cahn doesn't supply any references. So, my question to all the Cahn fans out there is: Where exactly did he get these ideas? Can you post anything that shows conclusively he's right? Did the Pilgrims actually write or say they were founding a new Israel in the "new world?"

It appears to me that the United states of America has been blessed greatly by God, and is founded upon "In God we trust".

However we have become a very disobedient nation, and God always chasten those that he loves.

The scriptures teach that there is a remnant of the household of Jacob/Israel that will always trust in God, and will be a witness to God right up to Jesus's return.

To your knowledge did John Winthrop, or anyone else on the Mayflower, say specifically they were founding the "new Israel?"

Not that I am left or right in opinion of the topic but just as towards giving an direction for the topic. I think the man your asking about was William Bradford, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Bradford_(governor) because of the letter he wrote https://evengilion.org/the-man-who-brought-hebrew-to-america/ ... Anyway there may have also been others and so maybe this would be an beginning point in looking for evidence of those of that day of the mind that those colonies were of Scripture or not...

Yes, several pages in Bradford's The Plymouth Plantation were in Hebrew. And Winthrop and others were steeped in the Old Testament. But I can't find any original source from the Pilgrims themselves that says their intention was to found a "new Israel" as Cahn claims. There are tons of websites that repeat this but I haven't found one that provides any original sources.

IDK...? It would seem to me that if anyone were to enter into a covenant with God, that God would necessarily have to participate? And therefore, would have to actually "speak" to those people. Then, of course, that would be a really big deal... and recorded as such?

In his sermon before boarding the Mayflower, John Winthrop basically put it this way: He said we are entering into a covenant with God to establish a Christian community patterned after the primitive church. The primary rules would be justice, mercy and equality for all; and to bring glory to God. The sign that God had agreed and had ratified their covenant would be if He brought them safely through their voyage; which He did so apparently He agreed to participate in the agreement. But nowhere does Winthrop say he believed this community would be the start of a "new Israel."

I agree though, when God established covenants with humans in the Bible it was a big deal and on a grand scale. And they were always initiated by Him.

No they never did and cahn never said. You base your assumption on a ideal.
What cahn actually does is show old testament scripture and its template of how GOD judges a nation.
Since the united states along with other countries have decided to war againts GODs word cahn is pointing out and showing how GODs judgement has come and has been coming for sometime. In the same way that Israels final judgement came. He also points to the spiritual warfare and relates it to old testament gods.
You said he doesnt have references that he shares? Why dont you do your own homework to prove him wrong instead of pointing fingers. I personally find him right on point.
Trust me im not that easy to convince. He talks constantly about the Holy Spirit , Jesus, God the father and the simple gospel of Christ crucified . Nothing he has said that is not found scriptural.

Did you read Cahn's quotes I posted in the original post? Now you're trying to tell me he never said it?

"Those who laid America’s foundations saw it as a new Israel, an Israel of the New World."

And,

"Its founders saw it as a new Israel, the Israel of the New World."

Seriously? That's not the way it works. It's his job to provide references, not mine to prove him wrong. Just when you think you've heard it all. LOL

I might add that it is a precedent God has made clear, even judging the world and nations that were not necessarily called by His Name. Noah's day, Babel, Nineveh, Sodom and Gomorrah, Pompeii, just to name a few.
I think what Jonathan Cahn is sharing to the Christians, the nation, and the world is extremely timely and I praise God for his prophetic witness. Even if I may not agree with every point...

"Most would find it surprising to learn that America was consciously, intentionally, and specifically founded and formed after the pattern of ancient Israel. Its founders saw it as a new Israel, the Israel of the New World." The Mystery of the Shemitah, p. 57

What he is saying is that God is no longer dealing with the nation of Israel but the covenant is with America the new Israel.

But the Bible says if the ordinances of heaven the sun, moon, and stars are still in operation then His covenant with Israel still stands

And Paul said that God did not cast His people away that He once foreknew.

The disciples asked Jesus if He was going to restore the kingdom to the Jews at that time and said the Father will do it in His own time so the nation of Israel will be restored and not another nation to take their place.

The Bible says that Israel is blinded in part until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in which is when salvation is no longer available to them and so all Israel shall be saved.

God said He is going to bring the whole house of Israel back to their land and leave none of them in the nations anymore and they will know the LORD their God from that time forward and He shall never hide His face from them again which they will always be in the truth as nation from that time forward.

This will happen around the time of the one world government and religious system that there will be a peace treaty between Israel and the Palestinians and it will pave the way for all Jews to go back to their land which the Gentile nations will cause it to happen because they want them all back on their land.

God's covenant with Israel still stands and He did not cast them away and will restore the kingdom on Earth back to the Hebrews.

America is not the new Israel but it is a deception to cause the world to follow America as they influence the world with a new covenant that they say is of God which will change the operation of the world from the operation of the true God on Earth to the operation of the new age movement and their belief that aliens who are gods want to help the world to have peace on Earth.

The new age movement interprets the Bible and religions according to the occult and evolution, and people are still evolving to be spiritual and godlike, and Jesus is an ascended master in the occult, and there is no personal God, and the New Age Christ is the final teacher.

They believe the next evolutionary step is the 5th root race, Aryans, 6th sub-race, that will happen in the United States in the 21st century.

Which the next evolutionary step is the new age movement to become enlightened to evolve along with the New Age Christ.

They believe aliens are going to help mankind to have peace and there is aliens on Earth now.

Science says that humans are not from the Earth so they are aliens, and the world needs to prepare for an alien encounter.

Which Science says we evolved and they teach evolution in school so Science is on board with the new age movement.

The United Nations supports new age organization and are with the new age movement.

They are going to try establish the new age movement in the world as reality.

They believe Lucifer is a solar angel that descended from Venus to Earth eons ago to bring the principle of mind to the then animal-man and will help them to evolve in the future.

They pose the question is God an alien for they want to convince the world that God is an alien.

They want to convince the world that the new age movement is reality and Lucifer is a good god and an alien that wants to help mankind to have peace and evolve to be spiritual and godlike like the aliens who are advanced.

Which the aliens helped mankind in the past to advance and will help them at this time to advance even further and cause them to evolve to be a greater being.

Which Jonathan Cahn wants a new world order.

And he wrote a book called return of the gods so he is following the new age movement for he believes that those gods are aliens that are coming back to help mankind advance.

It is a deception that America is the new Israel to try to influence the world to follow the new age movement and proceed with the next evolutionary process so humans can advance to be like the aliens for humans are aliens and not from the Earth.

Then in the future they will go to the next evolutionary step 5th root race, 7th sub-race, and then the 6th root race with their 7 sub-races, and then the 7th root race with their 7 sub-races.

They do not acknowledge a personal God but they honor the God of forces or the power of nature as their higher power the evolutionary process.

Which Alice Bailey wrote a book called Consciousness of the Atom and she is the biggest prophet of the new age movement.

Which Science says that the universe has a conscious although not a personal God.

Which they call the aliens gods for they are more powerful than humans and more evolved.

But it had to be for the Bible says the world will rebel against God and then He defeats the world.

And it is here which the United Nations and Science will start influencing more with the new age movement.

And the new age movement will start influencing America more that will influence the world.

God said they will think they are doing God's will which they will believe they are doing the will of nature to establish the new age movement in the world as the operation of the world.

Which the Bible says the antichrist will think to change times and laws which he will try to change the operation of God on Earth to the new age movement.

Which also makes them dangerous for they will show no mercy or compassion but will try to get rid of all people who oppose them for the peace and harmony of the planet.

Which God said their consciousness is seared with a hot iron.

It is the end time for sure which the new age movement will come out at the latter times and their beliefs are of seducing spirits and doctrines of devils for Satan will deceive the world by the new age movement to try to get them to rebel against God.

God will not give up on the world until the world gives up on Him so He causing all people that does not love Him to follow the New Age Christ and then He will end sin on Earth.

The new age movement had a hand in the 1960's counter culture movement to get them away from the 1950's attitude.

They wanted to influence people to be individuals with the attitude do your own thing, and individuals will fight with each other more, and be more selfish and self exalting, and to cause immorality among them, and greed, and rebellion against authority.

For the purpose of trying to cause an attitude of wanting their own way and exalting themselves so they can cause the people to stop embracing Christianity and its morals and become atheist for they would not accept humbling themselves before a higher power.

Now they are ready to put the people back together so they can start influencing them with the new age movement.

They have to put the people as equal to be accepting of each other and feeling accepted.

They have to knock down the major influences and boost the minor influences.

They have to knock down the white people and boost the black people, minorities.

They have to knock down the men and boost the women.

They have to knock down the religious, mainly Christianity, and boost the atheist.

They have to knock down the heterosexual and boost the homosexual.

Which they try to confuse children about their gender, and invite them to gay pride events, and drag queen shows.

Which they want population reduction.

They do not want that many people on the planet when they evolve so they want population reduction and try to influence people to be transgender along with getting rid of all those that oppose them.

They say no fat shaming and portray them as beautiful for there are millions of them and they cannot dismiss them.

Which fat people are beautiful but they are trying to put them on the same level as a person that dedicates their life to exercise, eating properly, and taking steps to enhance their outward appearance.

Which a man that identified as a woman, fat, and not that good looking, won a beauty pageant and the women clapped for him.

And they show fat women on magazine covers that they are beautiful.

They are ready to start influencing American society with the beliefs of the new age movement and the United Nations is going to start influencing the world with the new age movement.

North Korea, Ukraine war, and the Taiwan incident is a scare tactic to scare the world to come together as one to stop the fighting especially when it can involve the world and nuclear weapons.

Like WW2, set up League of Nations.

WW2, set up United Nations.

Now it is time for a one world government.

Controlled conflict brings about controlled change.

I don't know about any of this. I'm dealing with specific statements Cahn made about the Pilgrims belief they were founding the "new Israel" in the "new world." Did they really believe this? If so, where is it documented? Cahn doesn't say.

And he wrote a book called return of the gods so he is following the new age movement for he believes that those gods are aliens that are coming back to help mankind advance.
Are you sure?

This is not what I have gathered from listening to his promotion of the book...

Did the Pilgrims actually write or say they were founding a new Israel in the "new world?"
We have the Mayflower Compact to tell us as to what the Pilgrims actually wrote:

IN THE NAME OF GOD, AMEN. We, whose names are underwritten, the Loyal Subjects of our dread Sovereign Lord King James, by the Grace of God, of Great Britain, France, and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, &c. Having undertaken for the Glory of God, and Advancement of the Christian Faith, and the Honour of our King and Country, a Voyage to plant the first Colony in the northern Parts of Virginia; Do by these Presents, solemnly and mutually, in the Presence of God and one another, covenant and combine ourselves together into a civil Body Politick, for our better Ordering and Preservation, and Furtherance of the Ends aforesaid: And by Virtue hereof do enact, constitute, and frame, such just and equal Laws, Ordinances, Acts, Constitutions, and Officers, from time to time, as shall be thought most meet and convenient f the general Good of the Colony; unto which we promise all due Submission and Obedience.

IN WITNESS whereof we have hereunto subscribed our names at Cape-Cod the eleventh of November, in the Reign of our Sovereign Lord King James, of England, France, and Ireland, the eighteenth, and of Scotland the fifty-fourth, Anno Domini; 1620.

So the covenant (between men) was to establish the rule of law for the advancement of Christianity and for the glory of God. This had nothing to do with a "New Israel".

The "covenant" Jonathan Cahn is talking about is one declared by John Winthrop in his "City on a Hill" speech delivered in 1630. https://www.americanyawp.com/reader...ohn-winthrop-dreams-of-a-city-on-a-hill-1630/

But there's nothing in it either about a "new Israel" in the new world.

Cahn has probably taken these words and misapplied them. Here is what Winthrop said but he was quoting Moses and what Moses said to Israel:

And to shut this discourse with that exhortation of Moses, that faithful servant of the Lord, in his last farewell to Israel, Deut. 30. “Beloved, there is now set before us life and death, good and evil,” in that we are commanded this day to love the Lord our God, and to love one another, to walk in his ways and to keep his Commandments and his ordinance and his laws, and the articles of our Covenant with Him, that we may live and be multiplied, and that the Lord our God may bless us in the land whither we go to possess it. But if our hearts shall turn away, so that we will not obey, but shall be seduced, and worship other Gods, our pleasure and profits, and serve them; it is propounded unto us this day, we shall surely perish out of the good land whither we pass over this vast sea to possess it.

This is what I'm thinking. The Pilgrims did see themselves as sojourners in a new land like the Israelites and compared themselves to them. But what Cahn has done is create a fiction of his own where now the Pilgrims are creating a new Israel and are even in a covenant with God like Israel's.
