When I went, I was invited by my girlfriend at the time who attended a parochial HS. I wondered the same thing. I looked at it as a Catholic replacement for a Halloween party and an excuse to act immature " one last time" at the transition to adulthood.
I dressed up as my masculine childhood/ teen hero Conan from the Robert E. Howard book series. It dovetailed with my western/ eastern combat arts, so I decided to personify that character in that genre.
I made that costume from real leather and loins girt with a real sword, arm bands, etc. The only thing different was the Viking looking sash with the fur collar from wild game that I added. I was surprised that I made it past the nun at the door and chaperones dressed like that. Lol
In college I refused to take part in any more Marti Gras, or participate in Greek events like toga parties or visit the Sororities. I decided that was not a good place for Christians to be.

As to the New Orleans festival, that place is well known as a hub of voodoo, witchcraft and all kinds of sins.

I've seen this and heard of this. They have built a complete underground network with high speed rail that goes from the East coast to the West coast. The Lord said they would hide in caves underground from the Lord's wrath. We have also seen a huge spike in billionaire bunkers that are being built underground. Russia has a whole city in the Ural mountains underground. I could go on. They are expecting a cataclysmic event, perhaps the 2029 wormwood event in April.
