Matthew 19

Instruction About Divorce

1 And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these sayings, he departed from Galilee, and came into the coasts of Judaea beyond Jordan;

2 And great multitudes followed him; and he healed them there.

3 The Pharisees also came unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause?

4 And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female,

5 And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?

6 Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

7 They say unto him, Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away?

8 He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so.

9 And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.

10 His disciples say unto him, If the case of the man be so with his wife, it is not good to marry.

11 But he said unto them, All men cannot receive this saying, save they to whom it is given.

12 For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother's womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.

13 Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them.

14 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.

Rich Young Ruler

15 And he laid his hands on them, and departed thence.

16 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?

17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.

18 He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,

19 Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

20 The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?

21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.

22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.

23 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.

24 And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

25 When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved?

26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

The Apostles' Reward

27 Then answered Peter and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore?

28 And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

29 And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.

30 But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first.

remember he’s most often in the gospel speaking to someone bound to the law from the eighth day of his life asking him what he needs to do before all was fulfilled about him

we have a different understanding now in the gospel regarding the commandments

“Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.

For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭13:8-10‬ ‭

In other words if I treat people with love and in tbe ways Jesus taught in the gospel just by doing that bum not going to kill , cheat and lie if I learn from him and follow I’m not going to kill chest and lie and steal ect it’s just a fruit of hearing and believing Jesus

if we follow Jesus what he taught us to do the law is going to be kept already without ever seeing it because Jesus teaches us to do no harm to others that’s what the thou shalt nots are about

“Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.”

“Thou shalt not kill , thou shalt not lie , thou shalt not steal “

that’s how you speak to murderers , liars and thieves people who are prone by thier nature to do those things

“knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers ( thou shalt not kill ) of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, for whoremongers,(do not commit adultery or fornication ) for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars,( thou shalt not lie ) for perjured persons( thou shalt not bear false witness ), and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;”
‭‭1 Timothy‬ ‭1:9-

That is who the law is for because they won’t repent and hear the things that can save them and change them from a sinner to a child of God

as we learn the right ways to go we don’t have to know about the wrong ways not to go anymore

Amen, we don't have to worry about the wrongs ways to go anymore thanks to the grace and power of God. If Jesus is in our heart, He will always keep our compass heading to "True North"!

amen to that silver once you know the way you don’t need to be told what isnt the way anymore you just need to learn from the truth the right way to go jesus even when dealing with sin is t really teaching us what not to do, but he’s saying repent for what you’ve done and believe me

“Let it be eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.”
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭21:24-25‬ ‭

“And thine eye shall not pity; but life shall go for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.”
‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭19:21‬ ‭KJV‬‬

That’s not for a christian to believe in or live by it’s true and it’s part of an ancient law that lead to the gospel which says the contrary

Do let your eye shew mercy and pity on other sinners , don’t go eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth , don’t take early revenge but give mercy and forgiveness and person to others who transgress against you

Once you know what Jesus and the apostles said about salvation you know everything you need to know to be saved and your not going to be a lawless person stealing and cheating and lying and killing ect

Of course the New Testament tells us don’t sin anymore also but mostly it’s about what we’re supposed to actually do rather than what we better not do.
Because if we are doing right , we’re not going to be doing evil

“It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.”

I was just reinforcing your point. The law is for those under the law. We are to practice the things against which there is no law. And because there is no law against them, we are free to practice them again and again.
The law is there to inform of the offense and to limit those practices. We are freed to practice righteousness continually.

Yes brother I understood I was just building more on what you said , you know how Paul speaks of the fruits of the spirit ? the law of the spirit ? It's what Jesus said would happen to those who heard believed and continued in his doctrine .

I was just making the correlation of what Paul's talking about with what Jesus said

Haha probably not so well then I think alot of times I don't make alot of sense but usually have some point somewhere in there even if there's some other things I don't quire get . I usually do a great job of drowning out a good point with eleven others that confuse but no one's perfect I guess lol

Anyways brother your patience and forebearance toward myself and some others here is a pleasure and encouragement
