In his latest book, Dr Neil DeGrasse Tyson tells a story about when he and some friends in high school were throwing snowballs at each other and he accidentally hit a dude's leather jacket with a snowball. The guy probably just wanted to act up in front of his girlfriend so he pulls a switchblade on new and says hey you just hit my jacket with that snowball
Dr Tyson was 6 ft 3 in high school and on the wrestling team so he was not intimidated by the guy at all
But rather than humiliate the guy in front of his girlfriend he just said I'm sorry, it was a mistake won't happen again. And after that they were cool with each other
So the moral of the story here is that sometimes diplomacy wins the day
