almost always in revelation there is a correlation to another prophecy and the gospel like what your saying about zechariah and the two witnesses but each vision shows more detail various ones
Zechariah saw the two olive trees in his vision John makes direct reference to what zechariah saw and doesn’t actually see the two olive trees he just says “ these are the two olive trees before the lord “ referencing zechariah 4 telling us this vision is connected
John is hearing further revelation of Zechariah’s vision
“And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth. These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth.”
Revelation 11:3-4 KJV
He doesn’t see them he’s referencing what zechariah saw and adding understanding to it the actual title for revelation is “ the apocalypse of Jesus Christ “ apocalypse means “ the uncovering “ “ the revealing “
It’s purpose is uncovering or further revealing the meaning to all those ot visions like zechariah had or ezekiel or Daniel had there are always verses connecting them
The two olive trees zechariah saw , the four horsemen who rode out of heaven into earth in revelation 7 , the lamb with seven eyes in revelation 5 , the man who marks the 144000 while the others wait to destroy everyone else when he’s finished , johns seven headed beast with ten horns , Ezekiel’s vision of the throne of God and the one like the son of man upon it , the four creatures around the throne ect
Nearly all the imagery in revelation has at least one Old Testament companion here’s an example of a few others
“As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle.”

aid course we need to read the chapters and visions and revelation to understand what those figures mean but my point is there’s always ot companions that help with additional details like zechariah 4 and revelation 11 and then you find in the gospel more to them
“For behold the stone that I have laid before Joshua; upon one stone shall be seven eyes: behold, I will engrave the graving thereof, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day.”

there’s always heaven and earth always two companions at least like what was done in Jerusalem that slaughter is what’s in store for earth and Jesus is marking people for salvstion before it happens
