Tonight we were challenged not to cheapen what God has made sacred.

Sacred- The things that are of God.

In both the old and new testaments people learned the hard way (some losing their life) when they disobeyed or tried to cheat God.

It got me thinking that sacred things are so very important to God.

God created us in His image. We are soulish beings with eternal futures. Because humans are created in His image. We are sacred in His eyes. Life is sacred. You shall not murder is one of the ten commandments because God hates the murder of the innocent.

Even the blood of Abel cried out to God after Cain took his brother's life. Your life is sacred but due to sin and the fall of humanity what was sacred needed to be purified.

A sacrifice was needed. A blood sacrifice atoned for the sins of Israel throughout the Old Testament using specific animals. Animals were insufficient, temporary, and could never suffice for the full redemption of sins.

The only way to fully purify us was a sacrifice that required a human. But this human had to be completely holy without spots or blemishes. No human could accomplish the 2nd requirement.
Only God is perfect and holy. So God predestined before time a way to purify us by preparing the way of the Savior.

The only perfect holy being is God so to fulfill both requirements 1. Be human and 2. Be holy and perfect. God entered into humanity. We call this the incarnation of the flesh. Jesus is the incarnation of God. John 1:1-14 describes this.

Jesus freely gave His life being fully human and divine, He sacrificed His life to purify what was sacred. Our lives. By His blood, our sins have been atoned for. We are now redeemed through Him. God the Father in the trinity sees us through the lens of the Son. He sees us as holy, pure, righteous, and sacred beings that He is preparing a marvelous place for His precious children.

Do not cheapen what God has made sacred. Do not cheapen yourself. You were bought for a price.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 ESV
Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.

Our bodies are the temple that God's Spirit the 3rd manifestation of God in the Trinity has set up residence within you.

To cheapen what is sacred is to live at odds with what God calls to be holy. We cheapen the temple by placing idols within, we cheapen it if we are defiled in sexual immorality, greed, sinful anger, gossip, etc. We cheapen it if there is no true worship within the inner walls of our soul. We cheapen it if the temple just becomes a place to collect dust and the Word of God is hidden away from our hearts.

Like the Israelites who rediscovered the Words of God, the temple of our soul should be always hungry and in awe of God's Word.

A price was paid for your soul to see salvation. The only thing required is faith. Faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour.
He is the only way to the Father. Your life is sacred, do not cheapen it by the ways of the world. Instead, glorify God in your body.

Amen to that bro.

Heb 9:14
How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

2Ti 2:21
If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.

1Co 5:7
Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:

So very true. Thank you. God is truly a loving God.
