“For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.” Hebrews 5:12

For though ye have ten thousand instructers in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.

What an indictment, we have been saved and sat under so much teachings and received from the hand of the Lord for years or decades and we are not fathering babe’s in Christ neither are we passing on what we have learned ad received by teaching the babie, totters, youth, adolescents and young adults in Christ, spiritually speaking.

You may be an exception to the rule, well thank God!

That certainly convicts me, but doesn’t condemn me. My failure and shortcomings are between me and Jesus.

This evening I think that I received a revelation that I need a mentor in winning souls. Someone whose a proven and successful witness for the Lord. Tagging along with such a person in hope of learning from them. :)

I have some experience with winning souls.
It's good to hear from someone who is enthusiastic about that. Most churches don't actively do that. Many Christians might not even be familiar with that term.

Today, I too was reminded of the importance of winning souls to Christ. There was a name of someone who I tried to lead to the Lord .
She was an elderly lady with dementia. She could have a conversation, but had trouble understanding the issues of the gospel. She heard it a few times, but I'm unsure if she trusted Christ.
I went by to see her last weekend and there was no answer when I knocked. I sure hope she got saved. Nothing in this world is worth more than that lady's soul.
There is such a need to reach the lost before it's too late.

I'm going to post a soul winning demonstration. Let me know what you think when you get around to listening to it. This isn't me, but it is the same gospel. The pastor in the video leads one of the most successful, active soul winning churches in the country.

Sounds like you need a father in Christ. In my experience, this is how the Lord is building His house. I’ve walked with such a father for many years.

Look....
I've learned all the different "on the spot" soul winning techniques and I can tell you straight up that they are not what you want to do.

The absolute best way is the same way that Jesus changes you....by means of a personal relationship with those who are unsaved. I have led many others to Christ in just such a manner. It's not done in sound bites or with emotional manipulation....it's by just you being you and unashamedly you being you. I never preached at anyone....ever. But everyone knew exactly who and what I was and what I stood for. I lived a transparent life and lifestyle. And I was successful in turning many lives around. Some of which were those you would never want to meet in a dark alley.

But it was because those guys got to really know me. They saw the life I lived...I never wavered or was judgmental over how they lived theirs. And most especially I waited until they ASKED me for advice. And when they did I gave them the answers with their best interests in mind...not my feelings or morals....but their feelings and desires in mind. And it worked real miracles in people's lives. Sometimes it takes years. Jesse took 8 years. But he is definitely a changed man.

You might want to think about what it takes to change people for real. Some will actually know the truth and refuse to act on it. Just saying....you aren't going to win most of the time. But the blessed few makes it worth it.

Tonight is not a good time to interact and communicate, I will address all that need addressing then. This is a good thread.
Notice that Johndb says,
"You might want to think about what it takes to change people for real."

If you read any of my gospel presentations, you'll never find one where I am trying to change people. Changing people is what God does with with believers AFTER they get saved and as they grow in the Word. But that follows salvation, just like so many things.
The gospel isn't about changing people from immoral to moral. That is a works based misunderstanding about the gospel. The true gospel is to lead the lost to Christ. He's the Savior Who died for our sins and rose on the third day. I Corinthians 15:1-4.
I'm telling people that you are not saving yourself by your good deeds or changed life. They must put their faith in Jesus alone....John 3.

I wasn't going to post anything else this evening, but this sermon in the link applies.

A Wet Blanket On Soul Winning

It just so happened that I read Revelation chapters 1&2 tonight. Then I looked up a sermon that might be of encouragement to you after reading the statements above.
It "coincidentally" 😄 happens to start with the main text beginning in ...... Revelation chapter 2.
That shows me that the Lord wants this.
He is so good!

I agree transparency is whats needed. As some say "im just a begger telling another where to get bread".
We are not the sin police.
Listening and praying setting the example of good things and conversation captures attention.
Letting others hear why you believe is also very powerful.

I think it depends on what you mean by winning souls. We can't win over souls; only the Holy Spirit can do that. We can share our faith, love people, plant seeds; but it's up to the Lord to build His church. It was a big relief to me when I realized I don't have to convert the world. I think the best approach is to stick with what you're comfortable with. Not everyone is a Steven Anderson; nor should we be.

For lost man without the gospel, this is true.
However, believers are commanded in the Old and New Testaments many times to lead others to the Lord.

Like I said in my opening, most churches do not teach this, so it is a foreign concept to most people.
Accepted in the Beloved is familiar with the term. The following was an admonition to believers in the Lord.

"The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise."
