I have heard . . .

I need either verification or refutation on this. I've heard that during the time that Jesus' body was entombed, He went to Hades to give a chance to those who had died before the New Covenant. I can't find this in scripture but it sounds plausible. Thanks for any insight on ths.

yes, it does matter. everything in scripture is the truth, the whole truth & nothing but the truth. i never saw anywhere that Jesus gave a chance to who died before.....

We can't understand everything in the scriptures, nor should we try. But I know that's a foolish thing to say here, where knowing it all is at a premium.

no, not a foolish thing to say. you know its the truth. the O.T. book of Ecclesiastes is probably the best book at explaining, at least partly, that we will never know everything. God has commanded us to live joyfully, wisely & responsibly. i view problems of life like this: they were since the fall of adam & eve, no one has all the answers, the future will certainly be problem loaded 7 it will end at the perfect time. also, i incorporated a "comedic" approach to problems because it sets your senses in a positive way to get THRU the issue. it works for me & i believe it can work for anyone. there was a time when the devil gripped me powerfully in issues, not seeing thru it & complaining about it. common tests like a driver cutting you off, being told something disparaging or derisive, or being hollered at for an unjust reason, etc., now li augh & cast it out in Jesus name. another truth is that we usually learn thru adversity. scientists & musicians can tell you how many mistakes & failure they endured to get where they are today. i think troubles are a blessing on your path to success.

1.) The Bible says very clearly that everyone knows there is a god, and everyone understands basic morality, and everyone is responsible for their own sin. God owes no one anything. So no one in Hades was owed a special visit from Jesus in order to repent, as the time for repenting had long passed. To suggest otherwise is just very poor theology... though there's nothing wrong with asking the question.

2.) Your profile says you've been a Christian since you were 11, and you're a small group leader. If you've been a christian so long, and you're now in leadership, what has provoked you to suddenly ask this question about such rudimentary theology? What brought this up?

and then thinking along those lines especially what you quoted we see evidence that Jesus preached the gospel after he died to those who were buried before him

all that said I don’t hear Jesus entering into hades though but into the spiritual prison he created in tbe ot and explained people would later be delivered from that spiritual prison

you mean the souls that were Ancient Hebrews waiting to be released or the other side of people?

Jesus was entombed in the heart of the earth for 3 day and 3 nights ....He didn't sneak out when He was dead to go see the imprisoned spirits ...
Specifically we don't know when .... But since He was raised Saturday Nisan 17 before sunset and not seen until early Sunday morning ...my guess is sometime in that time frame.
