Look closely at how righteousness is a key to many things in The Word of God. It's Biblical in every sense of the word and the Word is Righteousness. The Prayers Of A Righteous Man Avails Much, Ahd anything you ask you will receive from ' IF ' You KEEP His commandments and do the things that are pleasing in His site, again Righteousness is the key subject in that verse. Righteousness throughout the Word of God is Key to one's walk with God. 1 John 3.
We see, for example in 1 John 1,2,3,4 and 5th chapters that righteousness is required. Now I know right about now all the Baptists that read this are having a knee jerk reaction here, but I have to tell you that telling you it's ok to sin in any way is preaching death not life. Understanding what Christ has already done for us on The Cross is central to our Salvation but equally important is our walk after Salvation. 1 John 2:1 I write things that you do not sin And .. IF you sin we have an Advocate with The Father, Jesus Christ The Righteous and He himself is our propitiation
for our sins but not ours only, but the whole world. You see how this little adverb ''If' gives great weight to the first sentence in this verse . You see its ' IF you sin not ''when you sin'' So The narrative is righteousness.

Hello, brother Dutch. Looks like you have been here for a longer time than I, but nice to meet you anyway! :)

I have to tell you that telling you it's ok to sin in any way is preaching death not life.
Agree 100%
Hebrews 12:14
“Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:”

Sin is to be repented of immediately, in a true spirit of repentance. The new creature is to live a new life with a new desire to be holy as our Lord is holy.

And .. IF you sin we have an Advocate with The Father, Jesus Christ The Righteous and He himself is our propitiation
for our sins but not ours only, but the whole world.

This little adverb ''If' gives great weight to the first sentence in this verse . You see its ' IF you sin not ''when you sin''
Yes, but I must add that "if we sin does" mean that "we will sin" (we still fall short of perfection.) The verse tells us that Jesus has provided for and requires immediate repentance. We must desire to be holy. That is the key difference between sinner and saint.

Hi welcome back Dutch! Righteousness is indeed a thing we strive to and that is a brilliant topic. I'd like to see others weigh in over at the BDF. God bless you!
