I dont believe God ever changed His Mind, He is immutable. Mal 3:6

For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed. David's prayer didn't change Gods purpose for the child, and yet God was still gracious unto David
Jeremiah 18
7 At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it; God sates he will destroy a nation...
8 If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them. God changes his mind...
9 And at what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it; God state he will bless a nation...
10 If it do evil in my sight, that it obey not my voice, then I will repent of the good, wherewith I said I would benefit them. God does not bless that nation...

It means just what it says. Read Daniel 4:35.

If fatalism were true, that would make some of prayer irrelevant. But even prayer is to be requested according to the will of God...not my will but thine.
Was David's prayer according to God's will?

Sure. A man decides where he is going to go. And it coincides with where God wants him to go. The man still acts. He devises his way. And actually gets himself to where he is going. Turns out, that's exactly the same plan God had for him.
Turns out?
OK.

Did it get answered?
Anyone who prays...thy will be done...will have their prayer answered exactly according to God's will.
No, butDavid knew there was a possibility that God would show him grace and allow the child to live.

Hezekiah prayed against what God had declared was going to take place and God decided to allow him to live. Everything that should happen is not necessarily God’s will.

God has the authority to repent and change his mind my friend. God is reachable and touchable. He is a God of grace.
Again God is immutable friend, listen to God and not your imagination Mal 3:6

For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

Job 23:13-14

13 But he is in one mind, and who can turn him? and what his soul desireth, even that he doeth.

14 For he performeth the thing that is appointed for me: and many such things are with him.

David knew that it was up to Gods will on whether or not the child would live, nothing about changing Gods Mind or purpose. Davids son Solomon knew that as well Ecc 3:1-2

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

God himself does not change, his holy, righteous characteristics, but how he has dealt with man throughout human history has obviously changed. Are we under the law? Has things changed? Have you built an ark? Why not? Did something change?

God had pronounced death. David prayed to God that he would change his mind and let the child live. You cannot dance around it.

God pronounced destruction against Nineveh. God did not destroy Nineveh. You cannot dance around it.

I havent denied anything, but I exposed you making faith, the act of believing a condition man performs so he is rewarded with eternal life, which is totally false.
Do you have faith in Jesus Christ?

Nice displacement with the accusations. No, David is not playing lord. He's a man who knows God's heart and is praying that God would change his mind concerning his son. Period. If that goes against your theology, then change your theology to line up with scripture.

Yes, but Im not sure He is the same Jesus Christ you may be referring to. The Jesus Christ I was given Faith in came to save only a particular people from their sins and He has done that, Its finished Matt 1:21

21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.

Now do you have Faith in this Jesus Christ ? Since you want to go there

You are handling scripture there not accuratelt, but according to your whims and imagination. For David knew all depended upon Gods will on whether or not the child would live and not die, he expressed that , Let us read 2 Sam 12:20-21

21 Then said his servants unto him, What thing is this that thou hast done? thou didst fast and weep for the child, while it was alive; but when the child was dead, thou didst rise and eat bread.

22 And he said, While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept: for I said, Who can tell whether God will be gracious to me, that the child may live?

David knew as all christians know, this 1 Jn 5:14-15

14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:

15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
