The Crowning of a Queen

The Coronation this weekend will be a most spectacular historical event.

Yet one thing spoils it for me. It is that Camilla will be crowned. I know it is good to forgive, but I cannot forget the way she and Charles caused Princess Diana so much pain. It rankles that Camilla will now have such glory. I am afraid I do not like Charles either.

I adored our Queen Elizabeth whose life was exemplary, her sense of duty and her Christian faith were a great example and inspiration to us all.

I could be wrong, and I am no monarchist even though I am interested in the history of such because
the monarchy has wielded such power and influence... but I do not think many are that fond of Camilla.

- History has not been a strong suit for me, but I have watched a lot of dramatizations of history as it
regards the power struggles within the monarchist families to rule the masses. It is fascinating from
a historical standpoint because they highlight on many levels the ongoing plight of the human condition
and the influence of the church, too, especially in days gone by (meaning I am not interested in the gossipy
modern day goings-on within the current British monarchy that fill many newspapers and internet). I saw one
a while back about King Alfred the Great's reign of around a thousand years ago. Of course much was added
in the fictionalization, but the historical facts were well represented within the narrative, which I check
through research as I am watching. Gosh darn it all, there are just so many of them (kings and queens) LOL,
and it can get confusing over the long periods of time depicted with the repetition of names and so many
countries on the playing field. Still I persist. I am far more interested in history now than I was in my youth

I don't think I can be of much help, I pretty much lean the same way you do. I think Charles is very liberal and I think he will try to change many things his mother would have never done. I guess time will tell. I have no use for his wife at all. She knew he was married with children, she should have had morals and turned him down.

Ugh,I remember trying to recall which George, Charles, or John was king in history class. So annoying!! But I was obsessed with Diana as a teen. I collected magazines and books on her and filled my walls with her pictures. Now all I can think is what great parents I had that didn't freak out over the tape scars on the wall when I got over my obsession. I recall the day she died. We were ministering in a church in the city. Everyone was stunned, you could see it on their faces. People cried through the entire service. I think it people felt so bad for the children losing their mom so young. Such a sad life she lived. She would have been better off had she never met Charles in the first place I think.

i am against the kingship-queenship monarchy. i have never known anything that is so ridiculous, selfish, pompous & unneeded. for example: charles shoelaces have to be ironed, potatoes must be a certain size on the dinner plate to match the size of everything else, charles biscuits must be a certain temperature when served to him, the queen's shoes must be worn in by someone else so she wouldn't be seen in public complaining about discomfort & the queen owned all the fish within 3 miles of the shore so she can eat them if she wanted. in a recent year, it costs the taxpayers $120 million for upkeep of the royal family & such. those perks are just for starters. they are no one to be treated so lofty. bow to the queen? b.s.!!! remember back in the 90's, England's own residents were getting tired of this activity & made news of it. then, its around $80-$100 million a month to upkeep all the monarchy's buildings!!!
