till they are more numerous than the stars in the sky,
but like locusts they strip the land

17 Your guards are like locusts,
your officials like swarms of locusts
that settle in the walls on a cold day –
but when the sun appears they fly away,
and no one knows where.

All who hear the news about you

Habakkuk 1:2 (NIV)

How long, Lord, must I call for help,
but you do not listen?
Or cry out to you, ‘Violence!’
but you do not save?

This certainly seems to be the case at times, doesn't it? We expect instant answers and results from God, but He doesn't operate according to our expectations.

The silence can be deafening at times, and it's hard to understand why God doesn't clearly communicate to us in the same way we have interactions with fellow humans in this often violent and war-torn world that is living in separation from God (hell) in large part.

When the answers do come from God, it is an awesome experience, however. At times, it has taken years, but I can't think of one instance where He ignored my pleas for help. His ways are certainly higher than mine!

3 Why do you make me look at injustice?
Why do you tolerate wrongdoing?
Destruction and violence are before me;
there is strife, and conflict abounds.

4 Therefore the law is paralysed,
and justice never prevails.
The wicked hem in the righteous,
so that justice is perverted.
