Many Americans are quite insular.
God forbid the news should be about another place for 5 minutes eh? We hear news from the US and other parts of the world regularly.
Many pubs & restaurants do run "4th of July" themes on that day where they serve "American" style food.
Parliament square in London is host to memorial statues of notable statesmen including one-time US president Abraham Lincoln.
There is a plaque at Liverpool Pier Head commemorating over 1m American troops who passed through the port before the D-Day landings in WWII.
We are aware of you it's just that our own history goes back far longer.
FYI The King is not our master. We are a constitutional monarchy.
Frightfully sorry that our sceptred isle spoiled your woke news for a weekend...... but ... GOD SAVE THE KING!
As a Canadian living in the US, I agree. My husband, while American, was not born in the US and was raised under a British flag for his formative years. I am not sure I could take the usual swagger of so many Americans who seem to think they are God's gift to the rest of the world.
Many Americans are barely cognizant of their own history, never mind the rest of the world. Older Americans do seem to know better but the universities here have turned out an entire generation of spoiled, entitled babies who think we all owe them something and people who have worked for what they have, should just share it all with them.
I am not down on the US (Canada is pretty much turning into a communist country right now) but I can't believe what is going on here.
Illegals are pouring into the country and it's like watching a horror show without being able to change the channel.
And please...no Americans need to jump at me. I included my own country in the post. As it is, I would not even want to be living in Canada as people are loosing their ability to live free by the day it seems. There is no way the US can sustain the invasion from the south. It is a catastrophe from every angle.
