I like "discussing" doctrine, but not "arguing" about doctrine

It's fun and interesting to try and understand all that we can about God, his ways, and the future that awaits us here on this planet and in the hereafter. I enjoy reading the views of others, especially when their views are supported by scripture. Of course, even then two good Christians can have differing interpretations of God's word. The only way to be able to love and get along with others is to have the ability to not become offended, hurt, or bitter when another doesn't share your view. It's best to just say to "agree to disagree" and then to ask God to bless your brother or sister and then move on and NOT feel resentment, which is rooted in pride, ego, and vanity. Don't be that type of Christian. :)

Welcome Patrick. I argue with pharisaic legalists who try to snuff out God’s grace which is freely given to everyone who has faith in Jesus Christ. Other than that I’m a nice guy. Usually. 😊

Unfortunately "discussion" leads to "debate". But that should not lead to personal attacks. Also, it should be kept in mind that everyone who comes on board is not necessarily a "Christian" in the biblical sense. Sometimes there are enemies of the Gospel also present, since all Christians are involved in spiritual warfare one way or another (Eph 6).

the bible is full of argy bargy, at times fierce.

What we got is precious, worth contending for.

It's important to point out false teaching when it arises. However, it's pointless to argue and debate for days on end. For many who do this the debate is an end in itself; nothing gets settled, no one's mind is changed. I'm not a big fan of "agree to disagree" either.

That's great. Someday (maybe when I retire), I'd really love to get down to studying religious doctrine. The closest I've been able to approach thus far, however, is various executive doctrines; right now, I'm on Eisenhower. He had an interesting body of thought about what should and shouldn't be filmed. Reagen expounded on Eisenhower Doctrine in film studies. Fascinating, just fascinating. Brilliant Americans, both of them.

As long as everyone believes exactly as I believe, we'll get along swimmingly. There will be no arguments... it will be one big group hug, singing kum-ba-ya.....
Paradise.

Until someone complains that you are not hugging correctly.... and someone else sings kum-ya-bah, then someone claims you never understood hugging and singing, the way it was given to us...

yep.... paradise

I sincerely cannot wait to see the content you make you are a rare sort I could tell the spirit of God and truth was in your words one that this place needs.

Even I have become rusty in the art of debate, I used to always say and would even try sometimes to tell everyone this but I always said that there is a difference in debating and just plain arguing. If your in debates to argue or just to prove or disprove or simply just debating for the sake of it as some can get a kind of rush from heated debates and even then heated debates if done the right way can help you learn and grow. Debating is for learning teaching growing edifying encouraging building ect. and it requires that one does so for the sake of learning and growing helping each other build upon each other

If we of all people who claim to be different from the world cannot even debate or discuss with each other in a mature Christ like manner then maturity is lacking and all our so called understanding and doctrine are lacking as well because honestly if we have not learned one of the most basic lessons that we as believers should have learned by now is to treat each other ans all others with love building each other not tearing down treating each other as we want to be treated

I am hoping you are a frequent visitor I have a very good feeling about you

I suggest you are in the wrong forum if you dislike those who only know how to argue doctrine.

Be aware too as you encounter that in any Christian forum that not all are actually Christians.
