post a verse!

Hi everyone I think it would be great if you feel like it, to post occasionally a biblical verse that inspires you or that yo do or not fully understand. It could be a great way to learn and grow in knowledge.

It would be best to avoid verses that will create discord of conflict between denominations or belief system. I suggest a brief description of the context, followed by the verse followed by what you know or think the verse means. I think it could be helpful for many ( especially me!! )

I will start with john 17:21 ( KJV )

1-context: Jesus prays to his Holy father in heaven
2-verse:John 17:21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

3-My interpretation: That all may be one, not only Jesus's chosen disciples but all who believe in him be part of the family of GOD! this is quite amazing. When I first stumble on this verse, I realized of the incredible potential for humankind for who believes in the lord and in Jesus who was sent to us by the father. I also thought right away of Genesis; Gen 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

2ND Chronicles 7;14, "If my people which are called by my name shall humble themselves & pray & seek my face, & turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, will forgive their sin & will heal their land".

p.s. - I will jump in with my thoughts after others have shared theirs. The one point that I will make is that (as I understand it) "kingdom of heaven" and "kingdom of God" typically mean the very same thing in the Gospels (Matthew normally favoring the "kingdom of heaven"), just FYI.

Its sounds like you only want to study with someone who only thinks like you do, because on one hand you say Dont post post a verse that will cause an argument, in à thread you suggest to post a verse we can learn from or post a verse that you like ?. (Which really is argumentive).

The world is full of different denominations this is a fact,

The lord says we are to welcome those weak in the faith and use are knowledge to come to an agreement, but here you are telling people to only post certain verses, when all scripture is holy spirit inspired. ( What a joke).

Proverbs 6:16-19 plus 12

The bible is divided into two denominations Jews and gentiles, to suggest not to post a verse that will not come across as denominational is never going to happen in a world that is divided by different view points,

Then to suggest let's learn from something you may not understand based on the above sentiment is like sayin I don't want to understand or I've had enough of listening to other people
I only want to listen How God views my view point.

Of my rocker with this op I wouldn't mind posting something if the author of the op isn't going to judge whether it's denominational or not.

Forgive me for saying so but just about every scripture could be seen as more appropriate to one person's belief system than another. 😊

Fundaamental, you have been here at CC for a very short time, so you might not understand why some don't want to debate. So, let me explain, even though you aren't posting in this thread any more.

By the way, welcome to CC.

It is very common for Bible topics to get heated and it generally isn't very pleasant to be a part of these topics. Maybe you like the debates and discussions. You could start a thread on Bible verses that are controversial and enjoy the fun!

For those that have been around awhile, many of us (if I may speak on behalf of others here) are tired of the drama, and just want to fellowship, and maybe have a few laughs. lol Well, that's my take.

I think Magenta was trying to hint at this, but I could be wrong. It seems some people just want to argue and stir the pot, which is o.k. I suppose, if that's your thing, but others have enough drama in our lives. Others come in peace and just want to have friendly Christian Chats.

With that in mind...

Matthew 5:9

"Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God."

Looks like someone has got his dander up. Why didn't you simply post a verse?

One of the most powerful passages in Scripture is this: Jesus said unto her, I AM the Resurrection, and the Life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? (John 11:25.26)

It is self-explanatory. Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. He is also the Resurrection and the Life. We can add to this all the sayingS of Christ which begin with or include "I AM".

Romans 5:10

"For if, when we were enemies of God, we were reconciled to Him through the death of His Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through His life!"

For those who are born again, this is the most important truth in God's word. If we substitute "saved" with "delivered" the meaning becomes clearer. Christians need to be transformed, but not in the way that many imagine. Most Christians embark on a self improvement program. This never works. God's way is to remove, not improve self. This He does through the cross. The daily cross is when our self will clashes with God's will. When we accept God's will, something of self is put to death, something that hinders us, not helps us. This is the negative aspect of the Christian walk.

The danger is that we become disheartened and give up. We need to realise that Christ in us is our deliverance. When He is living in our place, problems begin to evaporate. Do we suffer form pride? (And who does not?). Jesus is our humility. Do we need peace? Lord Jesus is our peace. How do we love the unlovable? Humanly speaking, impossible. Jesus loved those who put Him to death. When Jesus is doing the living, we have His love so we may also love the unlovable.

Paul learned this secret. Romans 7 moves onto Romans 8. Defeat turns to victory! But only in Christ.

yes, I had questions too about this verse, I think that for John and Jesus at that time the kingdom was on earth since the son of God was on earth then, people were pressing first John the baptist then Jesus for the gospel of the kingdom of GOD or Heaven but also for the healing and miracles Jesus did at that time. Jesus had no place to rest and was always followed by numerous people pressing around himself and the apostles, problably pushing around to get to touch Jesus , I guess this constant ""aggression"" from the pilgrims could have been considered as violence. People put a lot of effort to be close to Jesus. In any case I could be wrong but this is my understanding of it.
