I am into post apocalypse books at present and learning things I never even considered.

This may sound stupid, please accept my ignorance but I thought in the case of a nuclear attack that death would be certain or certainly preferable due to terrible sickness. Now I see that in fact this is not inevitable if we know even a few basic steps.

I understand specific shelter is vital for certain a crucial time, not just being indoors, as fallout will reduce in stages and there IS hope of rebuilding a life? Obviously this depends on a great many factors.

What are some of the most important things to remember which make survival even possible? Like knowing how much time you have once a missile attack warning is given, knowing how to check levels of fallout and so on.

I know from the Fallout games that a G.E.C.K. is pretty handy to have, but not every Vault will get one.

Wait, that's a video game...

Sorry, I don't know much at all.

If you look up 'prepping' there are lots of items/ideas for prolonged survival. Myself, not into it because if I'm taken fine if I'm left God will supply. I do collect seeds of good food stuff that might come in handy and have canned goods. Also, I hope never to be in that setting🙏🙏🙏🙌😊. Actually an attack may be coming in the future, so it would be advantageous to know the info you seek👍.

I think a healthy diet (I understand citrus fruits and vitamin C are good for radiation?), and trying to avoid radiation in general (stay indoors where possible). I'd aim to get away from the city - it would be the failure of public services (electricity, sewage) that would likely lead to more death and disease than radiation. Perhaps leave it a few days for the radioactive dust to settle - you want to minimise any internal radiation sources by not breathing them in.

If it's any consolation, my understanding of the current plan is that it will be a nuclear scare event - a smaller scale nuclear strike to get people who think election fraud could never lead to nuclear war to sit up and pay attention, rather than all-out nuclear war. This could all be bluster - just the most credible explanation I've read. (This is not to say Christians won't face persecution soon after, though).

It's good to bring this up MaryM.
We could learn a lot from those who prepared during the Cold War with the USSR. This post will not be detailed, but would be more suitable for a blog than as a simple response.

I would start with > Joel Skousen <
on the subject. There's a BIG learning curve on surviving a world war. Don't let the information overwhelm you though.

A. The best time for you and your family to start is now.

B. I would schedule a regular time according to your ability to prioritize and implement new pieces of information, tasks and skills.

C. Start with steps and things that will be useful right now. That could be gardening, water purification, off-grid sewage/sanitation, pantry design, construction and stocking.

D. The threat of nuke war has been in the news with the Russian/Ukraine/NATO/USA war that has already begun even though undeclared by the USA Pentagram. They already use DU munitions against Russia. Their war doctrine is to retaliate with warhead air strikes if anything like that occurs. That's why I consider your concerns very valid.

E. I would not depend upon any infrastructure being available once war occurs.

F. Society pretty much everywhere will break down quickly. Violent crime will increase exponentially with individuals and gangs forming for the purpose of pillage.
This will require a defensive strategy and some training on your husband's (children's) part in particular. I was personally reminded of this recently.

G. Have regular meetings with your family.
There's a lot more information available for free right now than when I was learning by talking to experts, reading books and listening to shortwave radio interviews on the subject. The entire family, if you have children of age, should begin now.
They can be assigned, or choose from your list of priorities a simple subject. They have resources available and can study to the point that they can teach it to the family and friends. They will learn much more from having the responsibility to teach it than by simply listening. Those who listen should take notes and be provided a task.
Each member will contribute the knowledge base and spread out the work. You parents should develop an action plan. If you don't know where to start, there are plenty of resources available online. Cooperation with all family members and friends will increase productivity and you will achieve your goals much faster. The family unit must become strong and unified. Expect absolutely no outside or governmental help. Communication will be down. Perhaps after fallout subsides, the fake man of peace restores his new world order, he will assign everyone a technological mark for emergency rations, relocation to the FEMA Camps/ Smart Cities. That might be offered in exchange for your property. Bill Gates will buy it.....pennies on the dollar.
We don't want that.
Right now is the time to seek God's help with all of our hearts.
Right now is the time to seek His will and follow Him.

Right now is the time to start preparing for their war that may usher in their Great Reset.

The Rapture, will probably happen, as we go up, the missiles come down, so we really don't have to worry about this kind of scenario, I 'm just saying.
