I looked up the primary verses quoted in Acts 7 above, and I love the verses that come after those cited above:

Isaiah 66:1-2

New International Version

Judgment and Hope

1 This is what the Lord says:
“Heaven is my throne,
and the earth is my footstool.
Where is the house you will build for me?
Where will my resting place be?
2 Has not my hand made all these things,
and so they came into being?”
declares the Lord.
“These are the ones I look on with favor:
those who are humble and contrite in spirit,
and who tremble at my word.

God emphasizes time-and-time again that religious ceremonies and impressive temples for worship are much less important than the way we approach and develop our relationship with Him. My attitude needs to be one of humility and reverence, striving to make my relationship stronger with Jesus Christ, so He can use me as a temple to share the good news and encourage people to seek out a relationship with our gracious and loving God.

II Samuel 7 sheds some helpful light on this temple discussion:

2 Samuel 7

New International Version

God’s Promise to David

1 After the king was settled in his palace and the Lord had given him rest from all his enemies around him, 2 he said to Nathan the prophet, “Here I am, living in a house of cedar, while the ark of God remains in a tent.”
3 Nathan replied to the king, “Whatever you have in mind, go ahead and do it, for the Lord is with you.”

4 But that night the word of the Lord came to Nathan, saying:
5 “Go and tell my servant David, ‘This is what the Lord says: Are you the one to build me a house to dwell in? 6 I have not dwelt in a house from the day I brought the Israelites up out of Egypt to this day. I have been moving from place to place with a tent as my dwelling. 7 Wherever I have moved with all the Israelites, did I ever say to any of their rulers whom I commanded to shepherd my people Israel, “Why have you not built me a house of cedar?”’

8 “Now then, tell my servant David, ‘This is what the Lord Almighty says: I took you from the pasture, from tending the flock, and appointed you ruler over my people Israel. 9 I have been with you wherever you have gone, and I have cut off all your enemies from before you. Now I will make your name great, like the names of the greatest men on earth. 10 And I will provide a place for my people Israel and will plant them so that they can have a home of their own and no longer be disturbed. Wicked people will not oppress them anymore, as they did at the beginning 11 and have done ever since the time I appointed leaders[a] over my people Israel. I will also give you rest from all your enemies.

“‘The Lord declares to you that the Lord himself will establish a house for you: 12 When your days are over and you rest with your ancestors, I will raise up your offspring to succeed you, your own flesh and blood, and I will establish his kingdom. 13 He is the one who will build a house for my Name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. 14 I will be his father, and he will be my son. When he does wrong, I will punish him with a rod wielded by men, with floggings inflicted by human hands. 15 But my love will never be taken away from him, as I took it away from Saul, whom I removed from before you. 16 Your house and your kingdom will endure forever before me; your throne will be established forever.’”

17 Nathan reported to David all the words of this entire revelation.

God was not concerned about a temple being built for Him by David. He is more interested in the temple that will be built when He returns as David's offspring to establish the temple and kingdom of God forever.

Of course, the verses above refer in part to David's direct son, Solomon, and the temple he built for the Lord during the short "golden era" of the united kingdom of Israel. However, verses 11-16 primarily center around Jesus Christ in my opinion: "He is the one who will build a house for my Name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever" (v. 13).

If a 3rd temple is actually built before Jesus returns as a necessary part of end times events, Amen. But, the temple I am looking forward to is the one Jesus will build after He returns to earth and dwells with His people forever in the true Promised Land!
“God was not concerned about a temple being built for Him by David. He is more interested in the temple that will be built when He returns as David's offspring to establish the temple and kingdom of God forever. “

The temple of God is risen

“And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭21:22‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. But he spake of the temple of his body.”
‭‭John‬ ‭2:19, 21‬ ‭

think about what the man made temple was it was a place where Gods spirit would come and meet with the people in the inner place of the temple. The temple was sanctified by blood so his spirit could dwell among them and he could be thier God and they his people

The people didn’t receive the Holy Spirit in thier hesrt but Gods spirit met with one of them on his mercy seat on the temples inner most point it’s center the heart of the temple is where his spirit would dwell

The man made temple is a pattern of Gods spirit coming to dwell on the hearts of believers where he meets with us after he’s sanctifies us with blood also like the pattern of the temple

What im saying is there’s no more need or use for a temple made with hands , it was a place for Gods spirit to be among the people but he dwells in his temple now the body of Christ

“Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭3:16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭6:19-20‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Also brother he is on David’s throne it’s at the right hand of God in heaven it’s where he went when he ascended

“Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne; This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses. Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear. Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:30, 32-33, 36‬ ‭KJV‬‬

When Jesus ascended he sat down on the throne God promised David’s seed the one at Gods right hand Gods own throne

“To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭3:21‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“The lord said to my lord Sit thou at my right hand until I make thy enemies thy footstool “

what I’m saying is the man made temple is no longer needed and won’t be ever again because ot was a pattern for the holt ghost coming to dwell inside our hearts sanctified by faith in the blood of Jesus Christ as the temple was cleansed by the blood of animals continual sacrifice those things are finished the old order is never returning the true temple has risen

Paul is sometimes a mystery to me, I dont know what that means.
To me the best understanding of Heb 8:2 would be developed form reading all of Hebrews. In context wiht the whole of Scripture. The tabernacle of David was what we today might call an awning. It was used to cover the Ark as it was being brought back from being captured.

'I believe the storyof the travels of the Arc is in 2 Samuel. Part of the Ark was the mercy seat which was where the presentence of God was. In, or under Davids tabernacle the presences of God was not behind a 3 foot thick vail . Not hiden but in the presences of the people

The wonderful thing about David’s promise is that God told him “ don’t build me an house , I’m going to build on for you and my people where they will never be overtaken again “

“Go and tell David my servant, Thus saith the LORD, Thou shalt not build me an house to dwell in: for I have not dwelt in an house since the day that I brought up Israel unto this day; but have gone from tent to tent, and from one tabernacle to another.

Also I will ordain a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, and they shall dwell in their place, and shall be moved no more; neither shall the children of wickedness waste them any more, as at the beginning, and since the time that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel.

Moreover I will subdue all thine enemies. Furthermore I tell thee that the LORD will build thee an house.”
‭‭1 Chronicles‬ ‭17:4-5, 9-10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country. But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11:13-14, 16‬ ‭

God has much bigger plans in mind for His children than a temple made from cedar and stone as you noted, brother!

My next deep dive will be into the New Jerusalem and how the "temple" fits within that ultimate culmination of God's plan for us.

I agree the temple will be built soon but have you considered the possibility that the mosque and the temple could occupy the 38 acres available?
Or that the temple mount is not the true location of the destroyed temple? There is a good deal of evidence to suggest this is the case.

‭‭Revelation‬ ‭21:22‬ ‭KJV‬‬
Revelation 21 gives us a glimpse into the "new heaven and a new earth" (v. 1) with the "New Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God" (v. 2). It is interesting that John is inspired to use both the tabernacle and temple as metaphors for the incredible relationship He will have with humanity as God intended it to be. I love what verse 3 has to say:

Revelation 21:3

New King James Version

3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God.

Later in the chapter as you noted above Pilgrim, a reference about a temple is included as well:

Revelation 21:22

New King James Version

22 But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.

This vision and prophecy John was given of that incredible city does not include a tabernacle or a temple. Why? They aren't needed because people will be dwelling with their God in person.

The tabernacle and temple served as intermediaries between sinful humanity and our Holy God, and ultimately they foreshadowed the new covenant we have through Jesus Christ. As Christians, we don't need a temple because we are at one with God. Atonement (At-one-ment) during that yearly Jewish festival signified what would ultimately happen when Jesus died for us as the unblemished Lamb. The veil was torn to the Most Holy place signifying that by His blood, we as Christians have direct access to God.

In that ideal city and society that God will establish here on earth, a temple is not necessary because as verse 22 says, "the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple." Amen!!!

yes this will be the new Jerusalem where GOD will dwell amongst his true believers, the opening post is in reference to a temple ( or tabernacle ) that would fulfill the prophecy of the second coming of the Lord.

Will be looking forward to reading brother !! there’s a lot in scripture about the true city of God

Hebrews is really really a helpful book regarding the subject

“Then verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary. For there was a tabernacle made; the first, wherein was the candlestick, and the table, and the shewbread; which is called the sanctuary.

And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of all; which had the golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein was the golden pot that had manna, and Aaron's rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant; and over it the cherubims of glory shadowing the mercyseat; of which we cannot now speak particularly.

Now when these things were thus ordained, the priests went always into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the service of God. But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people: the Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing: which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience; which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.

But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭9:1-12‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“but ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, to the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, and to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭12:22-24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:34‬ ‭

“By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament.

And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death: but this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood. Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭7:22-27‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭11:19‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭14:17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And after that I looked, and, behold, the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened:”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭15:5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The LORD is in his holy temple, The LORD's throne is in heaven: His eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men.”

Yes brother, Hebrews will be the next area I will focus on (maybe the long weekend due to insanity at my work right now...). Hebrews bridges the gap quite nicely on this fascinating temple topic!

Thank you for providing some great thoughts to get the ball rolling on the Hebrews' perspective! Beckie has some inspiring observations as well!!

Blessings,
I will definitely circle back to the opening post. I need to do a deep dive with great commentary from other brethren to put this 3rd temple theory prior to Jesus' return into perspective. Sorry, that's the extensive research mentality I have been immersed in for decades in the academy.

Everything I have read says it would take around 3 and a half years to complete a Temple. However, An altar would only take less than a day to build. Probably 2 days to burn the first of the Red Heffers and mix ashes with water to purify the ground, then they could build the Temple around the Altar, while More Red Heffers are Burnt. Mix with water and Sray the whole land with Airplanes, people too. They have Heards of Red Heffers already. I wont see any of this. Im going in Rapture, if I dont Die first.

I am close to drawing conclusions about building the 3rd temple prior to our Lord's return. Here's a preview...

I will be shocked if it will materialize. Why would we build another physical temple just to have it destroyed again? I guess I would need to ask my Jewish brothers why we aren't focusing on the true temple we need to focus on individually--accepting Jesus as our Messiah and allowing the Holy Spirit to dwell in our temple.

We've failed twice miserably, folks. Three strikes and "you're out!"?

Our Jewish brothers except the messianic Jews do not believe Jesus was the messiah. For them a temple is essential to do the sacrifices, If only they would believe, I am glad however many did. Some say a temple is necessary because of prophecy. so far I am not certain but it could be so. I myself have a lot to learn about scriptures and need to study harder. I am not certain it would be a temple but rather a tabernacle, I am still investigating.

Blessings brother.

This sums up very well, brother, why I am disturbed at the prospect of a 3rd temple being constructed prior to Jesus' return. A temple isn't needed any more thanks to Jesus' sacrifice and the New Covenant we have as a result.

I understand that Orthodox Jews do not recognize Jesus as the Messiah, yet there are many references in the OT that show that God was much more concerned with our hearts and having a relationship with His people versus ceremonies and rituals performed in a temple:

Psalm 40:6

New King James Version

6 Sacrifice and offering You did not desire;
My ears You have opened.
Burnt offering and sin offering You did not require.

Psalm 51:16-17

New King James Version

16 For You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it;
You do not delight in burnt offering.
17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit,
A broken and a contrite heart—

These, O God, You will not despise.

I'm not saying that a 3rd temple will not be built, and I understand there is scriptural support for this potentially happening as a part of end time prophecy. I just find it disturbing that this is a major focus for some people in their Jewish religion because it is a move backwards to a system that did not work for them in the past (i.e. the first two temples are rubble), and this 3rd temple will become rubble as well, especially if the Islamic mosque is destroyed on the temple mount.

This world will be turned upside down if that happens, and the Islamic world would retaliate in full force, possibly igniting WWIII and perhaps kicking off the tribulation. Sorry, that's not something I am looking forward to seeing for humanity, nor would I want to live through those horrifying times.

My preference would be repentance and accepting Jesus as our Lord and Savior as a race (I know, a long shot at best based on our record to date...).

6 Sacrifice and offering You did not desire;
My ears You have opened.
Burnt offering and sin offering You did not require.

Psalm 51:16-17

New King James Version

16 For You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it;
You do not delight in burnt offering.
17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit,
A broken and a contrite heart—

These, O God, You will not despise.

yes definitely “the dome of the rock “ is a centrally important place to Islam in all the world I agree it would be a powder keg being ignited In every nation that supported it it would definately bring Iran to the breaking point they already want israel gone from the planet because of the age old holy war between Islam judaism and Christianity

all three religions claiming the Temple Mount holy for different reasons now Jerusalem is made of theee sections of people jew Islamic and Christian and the temple mound has been the place where the “dome of the rock “ has been for many hindreds of years built over the place where Solomon’s temple then later herods temple were built and on the ceiling it says “ God certainly has no son “

The Muslims call it Al-aqsa , some Christian’s and Jews believe building a new temple will Bring back the lord , because they will be fulfilling his word somehow in the Bible by building another temple but he’s decalred that he doesnt dwell in temples made with hands but in the hearts prepared by Jesus Christ and his word and blood
