Hi Craig,
That's quite a plan!
Does the population speak English?
That seems like it would be the biggest challenge in non English speaking countries.
Thai people have a lot of English speakers there and there are a lot of English classes available for those who don't.
Every American fast food chain is there....from burger King to Pizza Hut.
Thailand has beautiful beaches and is usually a destination for tourists from everywhere. The Elephants roam the streets looking for tourists to buy them bananas. It's kinda a unique place.
Some places get Chinese tourists from CCP....and there are missions where you can give Chinese businessman bibles to take back with them (they will).
Tropical climate...friendly people.
If he is in a small village there's no telling what he is doing. The areas outside the tourist areas are not as filled with prostitution. And as an Asian culture somewhat matriarchal instead of patriarchal. "Losing Face" is a big deal. And at times it's OK to be obnoxious with preaching. (Well, our westernized idea of obnoxious)
There's a lot of ministry opportunities available...from HIV orphanages to providing a factory to create jobs. None of it requires a huge huge investment.
You could make a good sized sewing factory for @$50k usd. Maybe a little more depending on the exchange rate. Then it's just a matter of getting the jobs....the laborers will come to you in a small town. And that's where you can make a real difference. Being a Christian businessman, treating people fairly and honestly, being above board and even a bit generous goes a LONG way to speaking to these people.
They are Asian...money speaks the loudest to them.
