Is there a woman in her 20s or 30s who is open to reading the CEV (Contemporary English Version) Bible?

Soooooo many arguments we could have with this one. KJV-only, this is not a dating site, men want only younger women... And those are just the easiest arguments.

Ahem... I mean um... Good luck with that arc2k5.

Perhaps randomly popping out of nowhere, who no one knows, then trying to snag whatever female might happen to come along may not be the best way to get a woman?
No woman worth having will be satisfied with that. They will want someone that takes time to get to know them, develop a real and genuine interest in who they are and pursue them because of a shared connection.

Anyone willing to answer such requests as yours is either a scammer or a woman with a hidden agenda.

Maybe we're aiming for women so desperate they will jump at any man.

That still falls under no woman worth having. 😬
Well... I mean... Objectively that's true, but some guys want them for personal reasons. I believe it's a control thing.

Sir,.. I suspect you said the quiet part out loud.

I would like to offer the following verses from 2 Timothy 3:6-7 ESV

6 For among them are those who creep into households and capture weak women, burdened with sins and led astray by various passions, 7 always learning and never able to arrive at a knowledge of the truth.

For our KJV fans...
2 Timothy 3:6-7 KJV

6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

These verses probably have nothing to do with the topic at hand but just I'd throw them out there.

Hi. I think I fit that description. I enjoy cross-referencing between the CEV (for its ease of readability) and the KJV.

Thank you for replying and God bless you. It's so rare to meet someone who knows about CEV. How did you first learn about CEV?

Well, I happened to hear an audio version playing aloud one day, and I liked how it sounded just like someone talking, but scripture. And when I looked for what version was playing, the video description said Contemporary English Version. I had already wanted to buy a Bible to improve my Bible-reading habits, so I bought one. I like how when I read it, it was almost like watching a movie. I can easily understand what's being said. But since I already trust the King James Version, I use it (KJV) to check certain verses to get a clearer idea of what's being said in the new version. I have this nostalgic looking one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1585160660/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 .

I really appreciate you sharing.

I learned about CEV when I was searching for an easy Bible to read. It's really cool because CEV is one of the easiest Bibles to read, which is why I love it so much! Lol.

I also found out that there's an audio Bible for CEV and I actually read through the whole Bible twice while listening to the audio. CEV has been a great blessing to me.

Here is the first CEV Bible I bought: https://www.amazon.com/dp/1585160555?ref_=cm_sw_r_cp_ud_dp_07TE6SGRD58TXREMD10D

Also, another reason why I love CEV so much is because how it translates Isaiah 16:5:

"Then a kingdom of love
will be set up,
and someone from David's family
will rule with fairness.
He will do what is right
and quickly bring justice."

This is the only translation that calls Heaven, "The kingdom of love." I think that's just so beautiful.

Have you ever done comparative readings for verses, such as what is made available on Biblehub? I like using
their site because they have the Berean Study (or Standard) Bible, which is a favourite of mine, and often quoted.

Here is an example:

https://biblehub.com/john/3-16.htm

It gives many many version translations, the context, cross references, a treasury of Scripture
(expanding upon the former), commentaries, and a lexicon or concordance all on the same page

Thanks for your your reply. Yes, I actually use Biblehub often. Sometimes I like to see how other translations translate different verses.

I like seeing the differences between translations also, especially if a particular word is being
sought in a verse, which may only be in one or two versions. I attended a Bible study for a number
of years where we each read from a different translation, and that was very interesting! We discussed
the differences and sometimes even found errors. Yikes. Our group leader could read Greek and
Hebrew and we would consult those at times as well, for more clarity. Many prefer versions
I do not care for at all, but, to each their own...

You Are Welcome! God Bless You

I am neither a woman nor a user of the CEV, but I just want to say that I hope you find who/what you are looking for.

I read some of your past posts, and there is nothing wrong with looking for Christian friends, in general, or a female Christian friend, specifically, on a Christian forum.
