The Threshing Floor

Body of Jesus, lifeless, shameful

Death of the lamb blameless.

My Father, how much agony did it cause You my King

To heal me, to deliver me, into your kingdom bring

Rarely will anyone die for righteous man

Loving master, full of falling short, I am

Worthy, worthy, worthy Master make me worthy, for I am not as you are

River flowing in the crimson blood of healing of your love, Bright Daystar

Holy whiteness of the Dove, burn away with white hot fire the dross

Thresh me on your floor, since you love me, remove the chaff, before I am lost

Refiners fire and soap wash me clean

Make me as you are, not as I am, so mean

Desire of the ages, let me not forsake You, never

Purest of all Beauty, rest me in your arms forever

I think this may be one of your best poems. It really manages to combine strong Biblical themes and imagery with a personal sense of emotion.

Usually I just click "like" on this site without bothering to pick any other icon from the menu, but I had to use the "winner" icon for this one.
