From Wikipedia: "Robinson had filed for bankruptcy on three occasions, has been sued for payments, and had liens placed on him by the Internal Revenue Service as recently as 2012."

Yep, sounds like he'd fit right in in D.C.
why not finish the quote?

Robinson, however, said he has since become a gun owner, and that he cleared up his financial problems several years ago. “Any outstanding issues we might have had with the IRS has been taken care of,” he said.

i don't know his personal issues, but my sister the CPA's first job out of college was with the IRS. according to her, it's not difficult to get in trouble with Internal Revenue. she had to resign over it.

Bankrupt once, maybe; I can understand that. Three times? Shows poor judgment. This is someone we want governing the US? I've lived a long time and have never once had any problems with the IRS; and I know plenty of people who can say the same. But I agree, it's not difficult to get in trouble with the IRS is you think you're above the law or are just irresponsible.

Sounds like he cleaned up his act, but why didn't he clean it up beforehand so he didn't have to do it later when he was forced to?

you make a good point. my sister dealt with people who were in earnest trying to be aboveboard with the IRS, but the tax code is so complicated and the forms so confusing, folks were often found guilty of violating tax law they never intended to.

That's why they have accountants.

Can you afford an accountant? I can't.
