Unrepentant rejection of the good works of the Holy Spirit so much so that you regard salvation as evil.

I understand it this way...

Sin incurs a debt. This debt must be paid. Jesus paid for the debt of All People's sins on the cross.

However, before Jesus died, He was given the right to forgive sins.

There are myriad accounts of Jesus forgiving sins before He died so I will not recount them here. He represented the exclusive access to the Father. It was the Father's will, through Jesus, that men would not be hindered by sin IF they wanted to come to the Father.

"..God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation."

This began the ministry of reconciliation, God with man, to bring man back to his original family, the house of the Living God (man's father).

Nevertheless, it is the Holy Spirit who prompts all to repent and prompt all to pursue God and/or those whom God sends:

“And when He, the Holy Spirit has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: of sin, because they do not believe in Me; of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more; of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.”

If one should say in his heart "The work of the Holy Spirit is the work of the devil" they cannot be reconciled to the Father. This sin cannot be forgiven, the debt erased from the record as if it was not committed. It must be paid for. It is only paid for by repentance and by receiving the Lord as Savior. You cannot reject God's delegate and say you still receive God.

Blasphemy of the holy spirt... What is it?
Whatever else can be said of it, it boils down to being the one unforgivable sin, so in today's day and age
of understanding, it amounts to denying the work of God in your life, which leaves one in unbelief.

Mark 3:22-30

"And the scribes which came down from Jerusalem said, He hath Beelzebub, and by the prince of the devils casteth he out devils. And he called them unto him, and said unto them in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan? And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand. And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end. No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house. Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme: But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation: Because they said, He hath an unclean spirit."

The blasphemy of the Holy Ghost is when attributes the power of the Holy Ghost to an unclean spirit.

In this particular case, the scribes accused Jesus of casting out devils or demons by Beelzebub, the prince of the devils or demons. Beelzebub is actually Baalzebub, a false god of the Ekronites.

2Ki 1:2
And Ahaziah fell down through a lattice in his upper chamber that was in Samaria, and was sick: and he sent messengers, and said unto them, Go, enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron whether I shall recover of this disease.

2Ki 1:3
But the angel of the LORD said to Elijah the Tishbite, Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria, and say unto them, Is it not because there is not a God in Israel, that ye go to enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron?

2Ki 1:6
And they said unto him, There came a man up to meet us, and said unto us, Go, turn again unto the king that sent you, and say unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Is it not because there is not a God in Israel, that thou sendest to enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron? therefore thou shalt not come down from that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die.

2Ki 1:16
And he said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Forasmuch as thou hast sent messengers to enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron, is it not because there is no God in Israel to enquire of his word? therefore thou shalt not come down off that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die.

What I can tell you is what it is not.

Nowhere in the word of God does it say that blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is "Unrepentant rejection of the good works of the Holy Spirit." or regarding salvation as evil.

Jesus is the only one in the Entire Bible who spoke on this. Jesus said

Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit would not be forgiven in this life of the next after Hearing the Pharisees say Jesus Cast out devils by the power of the Devil.

Matthew chapter 12:22-32

22 Then one was brought to Him who was demon-possessed, blind and mute; and He healed him, so that the blind and mute man both spoke and saw. 23 And all the multitudes were amazed and said, “Could this be the Son of David?”

24 Now when the Pharisees heard it they said,

This fellow does not cast out demons except by Beelzebub, the ruler of the demons.”

25 But Jesus knew their thoughts, and said to them:

Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand.

26 If Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then will his kingdom stand?

27 And if I cast out demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they shall be your judges.

28 But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you.
29 Or how can one enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man? And then he will plunder his house.

30 He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad.

31 “Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. 32 Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him;

but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come.

Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is one of the most abused terms in the church today. Buffons have used it to control people who have left a fellowship or openly spoke about the Pastor.

Some even suggest Not getting saved is Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, as if you do not get saved, now you can't get saved.

That is unbiblical. Peter Denied Jesus three times and even cursed To Bad, Peter, you're done.

Jesus was speaking to Pharisees, a bunch of Legalist, self-righteous church folk. THis term is the most misunderstood and has caused much condemnation on believers who were told they did the unforgivable sin. Now suffer from fear and cannot have any peace because they accepted the dingbat who told them they have BTHS.

The most terrifying word to hear is not that you may have Blaphemyed the Holy Spirt but Jesus saying to you.

" I never knew you."

Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is attributing evil to God when He is good, or reducing the power of God and His attributes in their beliefs, or going against what is sacred.

Mar 3:22 And the scribes which came down from Jerusalem said, He hath Beelzebub, and by the prince of the devils casteth he out devils.
Mar 3:23 And he called them unto him, and said unto them in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan?
Mar 3:24 And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.
Mar 3:25 And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand.
Mar 3:26 And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27 No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house.
Mar 3:28 Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme:
Mar 3:29 But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation:
Mar 3:30 Because they said, He hath an unclean spirit.

Mat 12:31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.
Mat 12:32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.

A person can speak a word against the man Christ Jesus and it will be forgiven them because it is the flesh, but a person cannot speak a word against the Holy Ghost and be forgiven.

People that say I hate God, He is punishing me, He does not love me, He is not good, He causes natural disasters to take out people, is blasphemy against the Spirit.

When Peter denied Christ he did not deny God but he denied the man Christ Jesus out of fear.

When Paul persecuted the Church, and was against Christ he did not deny God, and did not speak evil of God, but he was against the man Christ Jesus not believing He was from God which is why Paul could still be saved for it was forgiven him for he was going against the man Christ Jesus.

The new age movement blasphemes against the Spirit when they reduce Jesus' status to evolving to be an ascended master, and of the occult, and the New Age Christ is above him.

No. Jesus anything said against Him would be forgiven so your point :

"The new age movement blasphemes against the Spirit when they reduce Jesus' status to evolving to be an ascended master, and of the occult, and the New Age Christ is above him."

That is blasphemy and it can be forgiven IF one has repented.

I don't know if it's blasphemy OF the Holy Spirit (what does that even mean?), but blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. What is it? Basically what the words mean, to blasphemously attack the Holy Spirit, like what happened in the gospels. That's my understanding of it at least. I think there is a lot of misinformation about this sin out there by people who don't know what they're talking about.

1Tim 1:12I thank him who has given me strength, Christ Jesus our Lord, because he judged me faithful, appointing me to his service, 13though formerly I was a blasphemer, persecutor, and insolent opponent. But I received mercy because I had acted ignorantly in unbelief,

Some christians worry whether they have done this or not as a sinner. Most sinners do such things ignorantly, not being able to discern anything at all.
What they are really guilty of are is worrying for nothing, which all worrying is.
If Christ changed you at all, you're definitely NOT GUILTY of it.:)

I’ve heard it said, and I am in agreement with, that if you are worried you may have committed blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, you almost certainly have not.

Those that have, don’t care one whit that they have done it.

If you look at the example in Scripture, those guys not only didn’t heed Jesus’s warning, they didn’t have any repentance at all.

They doubled down and plotted to kill Him.

In my last Bible zoom with my church on Friday, the priest gave a similar explanation along these lines.

Attributing the work of the Holy Spirit to Satan (Matthew 12:22-31)
Honestly, I don't know if I understand enough about this. I think Gideon's answer comes the closest to my understanding, but somehow I'm not so sure this sin can be commit today. Considering Matthew 12 and Mark 3, note:

1. It is a single sin (action).
2. It has never forgiveness (in this life nor in eternity).
3. It is only found in Scripture associated with this confrontation with the Pharisees.

Somehow I think it may have been a sin that could only have been committed by those in Jesus' day (but I'm not really sure how). I'm just really not sure. But that's my 'two cents worth'.

Hebrews 6:
4For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, 5And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, 6If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

God has made provision for repentance, but one who refuses this will not see the Kingdom of Heaven. There is no other Way.
