Scary movie season is here. With all the worldly movies out there, what movies would you consider appropriate for the season that are suitable for a christian to watch. Estus Pirkle's Burning Hell comes to mind, which is a docu-drama about hell., although it's kind of hard to find. Then there's the entire world of Yea olde classics, that aren't religious, but are relatively tame of course. Any suggestions?

I saw this film years ago, The Encounter. It's a bit spooky but has a good Christian message

House (2008)
Based on the novel by Ted Dekker and Frank Peretti. Probably hard to find.

Dark night with thunder crashing & bolts of lightning at the beginning.
And the policeman De'vil.
It's a decent allegory though, well worth watching.

About 2018 I remember going out on halloween night to pray against witchcraft in a place called Peachtree City, Ga.
Was in the woods at night and it was very dark, except for the few houses that were lit. It started to feel pretty demonic out there.
Eventually I ran into three teens, one muslim, and one I believe was an athiest
I was going to pass them by but got a "strong thought" to talk about Jesus to them and one even got his wrist healed in Jesus' name (I think he played baseball). God was glorified.

As I was walking in the dark, words started to "flow" out of me in the form of a poem I guess. It was rhyming and didn't really feel like it was me.
It basically said something like

"you wonder why your children are so rebellious
you wonder why your teens grow up to stray away
it's because you are sowing rebellion in them
through halloween, and things like it"

a short time later, my very young nephew started celebrating it, and sure enough began to become rebellious on another level
mind you, spiritual warfare is par for the course with me, but this seemed peculiar
I was starting to think about the poem ^ and that it was starting to happen with him,
and around that time after thinking that, while in "time out", he looked at me in a strange way and randomly said "trick or treat"
almost as if to mock

even before then I didn't have anything to do with halloween, but after that I am confident no one should have anything to do with that tradition, even if it seems like a Christian version of it.

Charlie Brown, lol I'm not really into scary movies. I think they have done a few different ones on the Sleep Hallow legend. But even with that, my favorite is the old Disney classic narrated by Bing Crosby.

Is 'Christian Halloween' not a contradiction-of-terms (of sorts)?

Yes - I said it - but - hey - someone needs to say it...

The best Halloween films are the ones you turn off and forget about.

Ironic since hallows eve and all saints day was invented as a church attempt to replace the pagan holiday samhain, But in this century it what was supposed to be a religious holiday realistically isn't. https://www.albany.edu/~dp1252/isp523/halloween.html

I like all the kiddie and classic ones. Halloween town, hocus pocus, Charlie brown the great pumpkin, Edward scissorhands, nightmare before Christmas, goosebumps. Be careful about the remakes... the propaganda is so cringe. I only watch the 90s ones with my kids bc modern goosebumps is totally inappropriate for kids. Shame.

Don't care for real horror movies much. Halloween and such.

I read the book (love Peretti but I had a hard time following and understanding House) but didn't realize it had been made into a movie!

Yes, I've read many of his books in the past. I know I've read House, but don't really recall any details. But I did find the movie on YT, free with ads.
