It seems like a lot of people put stock in psychology as real when the Bible doesn't support it. Where in the Bible is mental health? Where do all of these ideas come from. In history it is the American witch doctor. The alternative to Christ to deal with the soul. It's nothing more than the devil in disguise. A guy on a Facebook group told me God doesn't heal his son of mental health so it's God's fault. But if it ain't broke don't fix it. My nephew is considered handicap but I think God just made him more kind and caring. Even the stuff they study as psychologist is men's doctrines. I took a class in psychology and the teacher would just lie to test everyone. I thought he was just trying to get us all diagnosed. I question his salvation as he uses psychology on the church to test brothers and is trying for his Police friends as a chaplain. It's a dirty witchcraft. We are a soul not a brain.

I think that your definitions of things like mental health, psychology, soul are far different than many people's... definitely my own.
I don't suppose that you'd care to define those things for me?

( We are a soul not a brain. ) If this is true why are there approximately 50 scriptures on sound mind? I agree we are a soul...but with a brain...

Psychologists can't prescribe pills, they're not docs.
Do you mean psychiatrists?
Just to clarify.

I don't see the difference in Americans going to the psychiatrist than Africans going to a witch doctor except industrialization. It's another avenue than Christ. You want science to replace Scripture. Honestly the only thing they're good for is keeping suicidal people but surprisingly that's a 24 hour stay

I want science to be Scriptural.
Like biology through Answers in Genesis, for example.
I've met some excellent psychologists, though I agree there are many who are power-crazed.

A 24 hour stay? Where did you hear that?

I disagree. It was a psychiatrist who ordered correct tests for my brother-in-law that was overlooked by his GP. My BIL had a physical problem that presented in a mental health way. When he was properly treated for his physical malady then the mental health problems totally disappeared. No antipsychotic medication. Was prayer answered? Absolutely.

Psychiatry has observed, identified categorized and labeled psychological aberrations. They have also done so with the majority of defense mechanisms that people use to deal with stressful circumstances.
However, they do not have effective cures or methods of healing their patients IMHO.
There are exceptions that prove the rule, but they are not the norm.

I studied the general field of psychology, human development, specifically behaviorism as an undergrad. I read portions of what the "father's of psychology" wrote, their philosophies, methods, and some research.
None of them would be considered sane by a born again believer who reads the Bible.
Jung, Skinner, Freud, and Kinsey, to name some of the prominent ones, were either demonically inspired or examples of what the Bible calls reprobates. A good tree cannot bear good fruit.

Thank you for your honesty. I personally thought you would be siding against me when you said you had a degree. I just took one class as part of college and it was the worst. The teacher of the course did nothing but psychology test on everyone and told you if you passed. This was a Bible college only.

I was actually diagnosed with 'too spiritual'. I got the doctor's notes for our adoption of a baby boy. Can you believe that!
