(Potentially) Profound Thoughts

Been thinking about storms lately.

In October of 2019 a storm came through west and middle Tennessee with a wind like we had never seen before. Many trees were blown over and it took more than a week to get all the power lines reconnected.

Why were those trees blown over? Because they couldn't stand against the wind. Why were they there to BE blown over? Because they hadn't experienced a wind like that before. They could grow like they were growing precisely because wind like that doesn't usually blow through this area.

Some places get wind like that all the time. They don't have a lot of trees blowing over when the wind blows, because any trees like that would have been blown over long ago. The only trees they have are trees that can stand despite the wind, because those trees grew up in such conditions.

We're seeing a lot of weird stuff lately. Pet salons, people identifying as dogs and cats, people getting offended about anything they can find just because they like the rush of being offended. All that can grow right now because we don't know real adversity. Whole generations have grown up without knowing the hard times our ancestors knew.

If we do see real hard times, a lot of trees are gonna get blown over.

On the other hand, a wind is blowing right now through churches. A lot of people have been growing as ostensible Christians for many years, because it has been easy to be a Christian. But now Christianity is not so popular, and a lot of trees that looked solid are falling.

It's getting a lot easier to see which trees are really strong.

Now that is worthy of an Amen.

I really like this thread.
I’m not usually a profound thinker. But today I sat and thought, and actually realised something, and come up with what I typed below. (Which also just happens to come from a life experience.)


We do our best with what we have to work with at any given time. And when our actions don’t live up to our own standards, or anyones else’s for that matter, and we are thrown off course; getting up and brushing ourselves off is easier when you start to realise the dirt isn’t even ours to remove and so trusting being thrown becomes a priority, and any dirt just falls away by itself

I have found this is important to keep in mind for other people as well. People do what they have found works, even if they know it will ultimately be self destructive. The alcoholic mother has found she can get some relief, at least for a while, from the bottle. The husband who beats her has found it makes him feel like the man he wishes he could be. The crabby old lady has found it's easier to push people away by being a jerk.

And once someone finds something that is proven to work, whatever the downsides, it's real hard to convince him to move to something he has never tested and proven to work. What he is doing now already works, already gets him what he thinks he needs.

It's a lot easier to deal with people who are doing wrong when you realize they should be pitied instead of hated.

Ensure your roots are the essence of your depth, foundation, truth and faith.

If God decided to end the world, and he asked every human being for a reason to end it or to spare it, what would you be, would people say you are a reason to end the world or would they say your a reason to spare the world.

So this morning, it dawned on me...


We can drift through life if we are not careful. Not having any achievable goals we end up like driftwood. Sometimes God dosen't give us a set plan to work with when we come here. Yes he gave Einstein a good mind and he used it well. He had opportunities too and is accomplished. I bet he didn't feel useless. Some of us are not that lucky to have been blessed with certain gifts but that does not always mean we have are stuck with the feeling like we are just a wasted life. No, we set goals for God and He helps us move forward. If we dont know what we really want, we start with the basics.... diet, exercise, and health and family friends.... even when we really feel like giving up, we pray and press on to the High Calling that ours in Christ Jesus.

Never give up. Amen.

What do you mean by the dirt isn't ours to remove, and trust being thrown?
