Yes we do

You somehow think you’re special. So special that God vhose you and allowed you to believe. While your neighbor is so un special. God would not even give them a chance.

I think I am worthless. Guilty, Unredeemable. Have nothing to offer God. So worthless am I thatall I was able to do was call out to God for his mercy.

He had to save me. I could not save myself
I believe in a very much wider salvation than allowed by either Calvin or Arminius, but we can't even get on to that subject.

Of COURSE I am special, I am chosen of God ... God never called you worthless, that is your mind. He thought you were worth dying for.

The bible does not teach that the last resurrection is unto damnation, it is what both Calvins and Arminians assume. The last resurrection is unto judgement.

Nothing there I disagree with. And we are called to receive the salvation provided by God through the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ. But we aren't asked to make a choice. We are commanded to believe, or be baptized, or repent, etc.
It's not that we don't make choices; we do. But we always make those choices based on what we believe. If you change what someone believes, you have changed the the choices they will make.
When God grants faith, He changes our responses towards Him. Before an individual is saved, they do not seek after God. Once they are saved, they run after Him. This is why when asked what the work of God is Jesus replied the work of God is to believe.
So do you think the tax collector seeked God after he went home justified, or before?

You were headed to hell. You could not save yourself.

Yeah thats prety much worthless. I have no value to offer God to save myself.

Your special and yur neighbor is not.

That about it in a nutshell.. Thats is the main issue i have with fatalistic thinking..

I never said any such thing. You’re not listening. Stop thinking calvin vs arminian.. Thats the trouble with many of these discussions. The arminian thinks one thing, the calvinist thinks another. And the people in the middle are never understood.

It doesn't matter what God tells you, you will oppose it.

If He says you have not chosen Me but I chose you or if He says He chose you in Christ before the world began.
or if He says no man can come to Me unless the Father draw him. Or if He says you are born again not by the will of the flesh but by the will of God.

You will oppose it.

To me these are crown jewels, they fill me with intense joy.[/QUOTE]

Which tax collector and where is the story in scripture?
But as Romans 3 says of the natural man that none seek after God, it's not hard to know my answer.
I'll share with you something I wish someone had shared with me early in my walk with God. I can't tell you I would have welcomed it or abided by it at that time. But I find it increasingly beneficial for me now. Every biblical example and story is revealing truth. But not exhaustively so. Every story isn't designed to teach every doctrine. Rather, they are generally only revealing a singular truth, and often only a particular aspect of that truth. Because this is so, if one isn't careful, one can easily draw conclusions that are never intended.
Sometimes it is easy to spot. No one believes Jesus is advocating for sinful behavior when He commends the unjust steward. He is merely stressing the need for His people to exercise wisdom. In other cases, it's not as obvious, and we can easily ascribe more to passages than scripture is teaching.

I do not say they had a sin nature, they were innocent. But they were tricked.

It is not wholly true to say they had freewill for God said "of that tree thou shalt
not eat." But the fruit of that tree opened a whole new dimension, a new world.

So God's embargo was a curtailment of Adam's will. He had a choice, choice is
not freewill unless we have set the conditions and consequences ourselves.

Adam could live, that was God's will or he could die, dead men have no freewill.

But they were tricked, it was God's embargo that curtailed Adam's freedom of will,
the devil sought to remove the embargo "you will not surely die"

"You'll be like God ... able to discern good and evil," [... you can still choose to do good ;) ...]
he tricked Adam into believing he had freewill.

It's the devil's oldest hoax and the one that works the best.
To say they were tricked is not quite right either, because Adam was not deceived... only Eve
was deceived. We are largely in agreement about whether or not man possesses free will.
That Adam and Eve were of the natural world is what seems to me to be the crux of the matter.
The natural man cannot obey God's law, and Jesus was already purposed to pay the sin debt.

Has He now been repurchased?
I know He's been regifted.

I suspect this is an attempt at humor? LOL. I don't know what you mean...
I'm certainly not against the idea. If we can have all-purpose flour, we can have an all-purpose Jesus.

In the same token, we can cut passages out of context and make the word say whatever we want..

I would stick to the word as a whole..

Was Matthew a tax collector? Was Zacchaeus a tax collector? I could have presumed the man who was juxtaposed to the Pharisee. Your question didn't give enough information for me to be sure.
And you are free to learn from my experience or dispense with it as you choose. And I never suggested not sticking with the full counsel of scripture. I merely shared concerning how we form our doctrine from individual passages.

They were also the last ones to be able to completely choose not to sin on their own.
Yes. They were created good and unspeckled. It shows us that being born with advantage does not mean that we will end well. Remember Solomon.

I just asked a basic question. Jesus said the tax collector (not the pharisee) went home justified.

Once again, Did he seek God before or after?

Can you answer the question?
