I was fasting during for six days. No food only water, seeking God for a direction in my life. Throughout the fast I felt God promised me something. But I knew I wasn’t totally given it all to God because I sort had a back up plan if God didn’t deliver and he revealed it to me. How do I know God actually promised me that very thing or it was just what I desperately wanted.

According to my own experience, God reminds me when I don't realize. He will tell you in a way that you can understand clearly.
If God promises you, it will come sooner than you think.Because he already knew what we needed.so true.

It's as simple as that

Things have happen Good or bad, but only thing I revert to is what’s on my spirit and thats to trust God And be patient. I just know during my fast he told me it will be okay

I don't know what you want, but that's your privacy.Put trust in God,that's Good.I think you use the way of fasting to show you who trust in him,So why not give up your backup plan?

That is a very good question. If the direction really is from God, you will have peace in your heart. About 40 years ago, I strung some Bible verses together to justify a desire that I had. It was not a wrong desire in itself, but it was not God's will. I suffered 6 months of insomnia. I gained relief the moment I admitted that I was wrong. I had all kinds of "signs" that before, I was on the right track, but my mind was never still. Even worse, I knew better. I knew the word in Colossians 3:15, "Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts..........." Darby uses the word "preside". Peace should be the normal experience of the Christian.

Also check your heart to see if you can let go of the promise. If we cling to something to the point where we cannot give it up, it indicates a bondage, not the liberty of a saint. Abraham was willing to give up even the result of God's promise. We are not Abraham, but God's principles do not change.

I agree I’m just seeking if that’s my only desire or does God want me to let it go. He hasn’t told me that either

I'll make this short and sweet. You will know God answered your prayers one way or another when "REALITY" proves God is right. I have osteoarthritis of the knee's and have been praying for healing about 5 years and still have it. In fact it has gotten worse. That"s my reality and of course I know His grace is sufficient. In short, God knows what He is doing.

It's OK to say that you do not know. It's hard, I know that very well. But God will reveal it to you in due time.

It probably isn't about a promise. At least not the one you think. It's probably about God introducing Himself to you in a way you have yet to come to know Him. So enjoy what comes. It's much more than you expect.

IMO only I suppose, but, IF you had a "back up plan," you were fasting without faith. What purpose does fasting serve if one does not believe God will reward their sacrifice? The back up plan, IMO, is a direct statement that your faith is surely lacking.

I'm reminded of the old Hymn.......... "I Surrender All."

I suspect you heard what you wanted to hear all along........just saying

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
6In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.

If it lines up with his Will expressed in the gospel it’s from God , if it doesn’t it’s not .

What I mean is true fasting is this it’s not to go without food for a few days but this is an acceptable fast to God that will always restore us it’s about Gods Will that Jesus taught

“Is it such a fast that I have chosen? a day for a man to afflict his soul? is it to bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? wilt thou call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the LORD?

Is not this the fast that I have chosen?

to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?

Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?

Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the LORD shall be thy rereward. Then shalt thou call, and the LORD shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am.

If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity; and if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul;

then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noon day: and the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭58:5-11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

What I was meaning about Gods Will expressed in the gospel regarding a fast is that’s a summary of what Jesus taught fasting that God chose is about our behavior towards others

break yokes rather than adding them to people feed the hungry clothe the baked help those who need help ect it was never bout not eating that’s just what israel had thought and it’s why he’s explaining in the prophets about what a true fast that’s acceptable to him is

“Is not this the fast that I have chosen?

to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?

Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh? “

christ ls teachings are all about living other people fasting from selfishness and feasting on brotherly love but real active love in deed and truth

thats all I was saying not eating food isn’t what God has commanded us is the thing but not living wicked and selfish lives is what he’s called us to we’re meant to fast from the spiritual unclean things what food we eat on which day isn’t a spiritual principle but a restraint for the flesh
