Examples of legal types: When we compare the history and economy of Moses with the whole of the N.T. The ritual law was typical of the Messiah and the Gospel blessings. The apostles establish this point in his Epistle to the Hebrews. Following are a few examples of the nature of Legal Types.

The entire character, system, and offering of the Levitical priesthood typically prefigured Christ the Great High Priest, Hebrews 5-7-8, especially in the ceremonies observed on the Day of Atonement.

So, the Passover and the paschal lamb typified the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. The feast of Pentecost commemorated the giving of the law on Mount Sinai, prefiguring the effusion of the Holy Spirit on the apostles, who were then able to proclaim the Gospel throughout the known world. Acts 2:1-11.

The feast of Tabernacles possibly typified the final restoration of the Jews. The blessings and privileges given to the Jews by God were types of these enjoyed by all Christians, prefiguring a more honorable relationship in which believers are the true Israel.

Romans 9:4, “Who are Israelites; to whom pertain the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises:”

To say one is an “Israelite” would indicate a Christian’s relationship to God as his people.” Their adoption as the sons of God and the privileges they are entitled to by that adoption are types of believers being made partakers of the Divine nature by the renewing of the Holy Ghost and their shared inheritance with Jesus Christ.

The residing of the glory, first in the Tabernacle, then in the temple, was a figure of the residing of God by His Holy Spirit in Christians and the Christian church; His eternal residence in that church brought to perfection in Heaven.

The covenant with Abraham was the Gospel covenant, the blessings of which were represented by the temporary blessings promised to Abraham and his natural seed. The covenant at Sinai, where the Israelites, as the worshippers of the true God, were separated from the idolatrous nations, was an emblem of the final separation of the righteous from the wicked.

The giving of the law and the formation of the Jews into a nation prefigured the formation of the city of the living God and the general assembly of the church of the firstborn. Also, the heavenly country, the habitation of the righteous, was typified by Canaan, a country given to the Israelites by God’s promise.

Thank you for answering. Mr. Benson's commentary is word-for-word the same as yours in spots... you can check to see for yourself, because his name in my post is a link to the commentary I found.

Most of the information gathered for the subject came from several books I own. Critical study and knowledge of the Holy Scriptures 1827, and the encyclopedia of religious knowledge, 1838.

When you use commentary from Publications other than yours, you must give credit to the Author of those Publications. If you do not, you may well be guilty of plagiarism. Just warning you before the Powers that be here decide to look into your comment a wee bit closer.....

Regarding your comment, I would add:

Romans, Chapter 2:

28For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:

29But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

Did not say I copied from them? I learn from books, just like people learn from the Internet. I don't copy I gather information. There's not one thing posted on this site that has not been written ten thousand times, ten thousand. Why don't you try encouraging people instead of discouraging them.

And don't threaten me with your warnings.

My comment was a friendly warning, not a condemnation. However, as a writer, I know that it is very necessary when using information learned from other writers to give them credit. As in posting Scripture. One should not post the wording without also posting Book, Chapter and Verse, right? IMO, as well, one should not "paraphrase" Scripture, but, now, that may just be me. Anyway, it was a friendly warning.

Long time ago here, I quoted a comment from another website, and gave FULL CREDIT to that website, as well as the Author of the comment, and a Link to their comment so readers could see for themselves the entire comment posted there. Robo Op can tell you, the Administrators of that website pitched a fit, not wanting me to use comments posted there as sources of information here. Even though I did everything legal according to plagiarism standards, they still pitched a fit.

Thus, my friendly warning to you...........

We do not agree on much, but, I still do not want to see anyone in the crosshairs of some angry person who believes someone misused their publications,

Amen there’s a new circumcision for a New Testament

“in whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭2:11-12‬ ‭KJV‬‬
