How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! There will be great distress in the land and wrath against this people.

If you have Amazon Prime membership, you can watch La Rafle (The Round Up) free, a French movie about the raiding of Jewish French homes and rounding up the families to the Vélodrome d'Hiver, then internment at various concentration camps, and then the eventual extermination of these families in the east at the death camps. Out of the 42,000 Jews, only 811 survived. Of the 3,900 Jewish children, only SIX survived.

The movie will make you cry. The Nazis and French police actually separated the families into groups of men, women, and then children. Which meant a lot of the children actually died separate from their parents, and husbands and wives away from each other.

I'm posting about this because the Bible said that the end times will actually be the worse time ever. Which amazed me because I thought the worst was all the awful things during WW2 such as this Vel' d'Hiv Roundup.

I think we had a small preview with covid 19, covid police in homes, masks everyone stayiny away, it was nuts

Is there any scripture that reveals why Woman with child born and unborn will be addected dreadfully in last day?
imagine in this situation how much worse it would be for a pregnant woman or parent of a young child

“And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.

Then let them which are in Judæa flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto. For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.

But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people. And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭21:20-24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

imagine being in Jerusalem in ad67-70 when rome besieged the city three years before destroying it . They starved them before invading and conqiering the city imagine how much worse it would be having a young child going through tbat as people were slaughtered and then led away captive and cast out of Jerusalem i to the nations who didn’t die in the siege

i think the point is that anytime there’s a great terrible time being pregnant t or having young children would make it even worse or also if it happened in winter the siffering is greater because of the cold

“And pray ye that your flight be not in the winter. For in those days shall be affliction, such as was not from the beginning of the creation which God created unto this time, neither shall be.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭13:18-19‬ ‭KJV‬‬

imagine how many people would freeze on Top of everything else in those types of situations and how much more of a burden pregnancy would be in that particular situation.

One thing to note about what Jesus is saying there though is this

“Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall not pass, till all these things be done.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭13:30‬ ‭KJV‬‬

He said that and then about thirty years later Jerusalem was besieged and the great persecution began as many in Jerusalem were starved and burned up and killed and imprisoned and later sent out of Jerusalem by rome in the Jewish dispersia

“they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.”

Read Josephus, a first century historian. This already happened.
This has already happened as the related scriptures are describing the siege of Jerusalem in 70 A.D. not the end of the age.

There is such a thing in the Bible known as "dual fulfillment" meaning a prophecy will occur in part soon from the time it was announced and will repeat again in the far future more fully.

These particular prophecies that we're discussing in this thread have dual fulfillment.

A good example of dual fulfillment in the Bible is about Jesus' birth. Taken from Got Questions:

Isaiah’s Virgin Birth Prophecy

In Isaiah 7 the Aramites and Israelites were seeking to conquer Jerusalem, and King Ahaz of Judah was fearful. The prophet Isaiah approaches King Ahaz and declares that Aram and Israel would not be successful in their conquest (Isaiah 7:7–9). The Lord offers Ahaz the opportunity to receive a sign (verse 10), but Ahaz refuses to put God to the test (verse 11). God responds by giving the sign Ahaz should look for: “The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son . . . but before the boy knows enough to reject the wrong and choose the right, the land of the two kings you dread will be laid waste” (Isaiah 7:14). So, Isaiah referred to a woman—a virgin when the prophecy was made—who would become pregnant and bear a son; a few years after that, Israel and Aram would be destroyed. That was the “near” fulfillment. In the New Testament, the apostle Matthew connects the virgin birth of Jesus (Matthew 1:23) with the prophecy in Isaiah 7:14. Jesus’ virgin birth is the “far” fulfillment—fuller and more complete. Isaiah 7:14 is therefore a “double-fulfillment prophecy.” It refers to the situation King Ahaz was facing but also to the coming Messiah who would be the ultimate deliverer.

Did they also tell the mountains to fall on us in 70 ad?

Luke 23
28 Jesus turned and said to them, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me; weep for yourselves and for your children. 29 For the time will come when you will say, ‘Blessed are the childless women, the wombs that never bore and the breasts that never nursed!’ 30 Then
“‘they will say to the mountains, “Fall on us!”
and to the hills, “Cover us!”’[b]

Revelation 6
16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:
17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

“For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11:13‬ ‭

“For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭21:22‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“and he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you: whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began….. Yea, and all the prophets from Samuel and those that follow after, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold of these days.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭3:20-21, 24‬ ‭KJV‬

“And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭24:44‬ ‭KJV‬‬

at he old testament prophecies lead to Christ ms first coming and the gospel to the desolation of Jerusalem and the tune of the gentiles inclusion

The New Testament prophecies lead from there to the end of the earth and Christs second coming

There aren’t “ double fulfillments “ there are two testaments one has been fulfilled and one is being fulfilled currently it will be complete when Jesus returns as promised by each testament

“so Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; ( ot promise )

and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.”( nt promise )
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭9:28‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Ot prophecy of the messiah first coming
“Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭7:14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.”

All things were not fulfilled in 70 ad.

Imagine being a woman in judea on the day of the Lord when all nations have attacked Israel raping the women of Israel .Them in judea flee to the mountains and hide in caves.

All things were certainly not fulfilled in 70.ad.

Zech 14

14 Behold, the day of the Lord cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee.
2 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.
3 Then shall the Lord go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.
4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.
5 And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the Lord my God shall come, and all the saints with thee.

If other Christians say that dual fulfillment exists and that I can see it too in the Bible, then I'm going to go with them. I suggest people look into that topic and decide for themselves.

The Christians needed to flee (and ended up fleeing to Pella). When Jerusalem was surrounded by Roman armies, those Jews who had accepted Jesus - true Jews or Christians - remembered Jesus' words and fled when the Roman army temporarily withdrew. The non-believing Jews remained, and were destroyed when the Roman army returned. The believing women who were pregnant or breastfeeding were in a difficult position having to flee (worseso for the unbelievers, having to die). This difficult flight was the reason the Christians were to pray the flight wouldn't be in Winter or on the Sabbath. Note verse 34 says the generation Jesus was speaking to would not pass until all these things were fulfilled (and they were fulfilled in 70AD).

Matthew 24:15-34
When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand: )
Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:

Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:
Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.
And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!
But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:

For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.
Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.
For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
Behold, I have told you before.
Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.
For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.
Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:
So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.
Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

History records that Jerusalem was sieged for about a period of 6 months in 70 AD.

In April 70 CE, about the time of Passover, the Roman general Titus besieged Jerusalem. Since that action coincided with Passover, the Romans allowed pilgrims to enter the city but refused to let them leave—thus strategically depleting food and water supplies within Jerusalem.

By August 70 CE the Romans had breached the final defenses and massacred much of the remaining population. They also destroyed the Second Temple. The Western Wall, the only extant trace of the Second Temple, remains a site of prayer and pilgrimage. The loss of the Temple for a second time is still mourned by Jews during the fast of Tisha be-Av. Rome celebrated the fall of Jerusalem by erecting the triumphal Arch of Titus.

https://www.britannica.com/event/Siege-of-Jerusalem-70

Josephus records as a eye witness that Jerusalem was sieged from March to September of 70 AD. So I am curious why folks keep saying it was sieged for 3 years when the sources say it was only for a period of around half a year.

Mark Twain once said that a man who has a family has given hostages to the world. So agree with other reasons given along those lines.

Christ says in Matthew 24, 15When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand: ) 16Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: 17Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house: 18Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes. 19And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! 20But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day: 21For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

They have to get gone. If you are on the housetop don't come down. Don't take anything from the house. If you are in the field don't go back for clothes. With child, on the sabbath, and in the winter.

From my reading it is the total sense of urgency. In like modern disaster movies we always have a scene where someone turns back. They go back for their books or see another needs a hand, save a pet, and etc. Unless they are the hero of the movie the one who usually tunes back to save someone or something other than themselves is met with their destruction.

So agreeing with the various reasons stated by others as to why it would not be optimal. I think it just really reads such a state of total immediacy and you can't delay at all for risk of your own peril.

Actually the history I myself have read says Jerusalem was. Ed woe ges for three years beginning in 67 ad and actually concluding in 70 ad

But I’m not interested in arguing over which internet page says what or what text books say what ect ect

Either way Jerusalem and it’s temple was destroyed in 70 ad by the Roman Empire after being surrounded by the Roman armies and blockaded for a period of time whether one says six months or three years it doesn’t really matter

historians don’t always agree on details of things 2000 years ago and I do t think it’s relevant enough to argue and waste time on

Do you have a source as I am truly curious as to why folks usually in this type of setting believers or religious folks. I am curious for one because usually the folks that repeat, they have a certain core view of end times events. So I am curious then to get a picture of how they read events to form their belief.

Correct that historians don't agree. However, they will have a source to cite to why they see it different. The majority of historians oft don't agree on the editorial, the cause and effect, what they see as the pivotal moment, the catalyst, and etc. Every source I have found does agree on the dates of this event because they are going off of what Josephus recorded. The difference of the dates being the months that it happened in.

Which is always explained in the differences of calendars.

So I am truly curious as I have never found a source that gives that Jerusalem was sieged for 3 years. So I truly just want to see one so I can read it and then the commentary so I can gain historically. I just want to be accurate or at least be able to throw a caveat in when speaking historically. Or personally basing something historically for analysis and understanding.

The time frame does matter though if ones belief system is anchored by chronology. Hence one of my curiosities.

🎪

Just found out: You can see the movie on TubiTV for FREE! No need for any membership! Here's the link:

After you've watched it, please post on this thread anything you've learned from it, impressions, etc.

How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! There will be great distress in the land and wrath against this people.

Speaking of the last 3 1/2 years of the tribulation after the antichrist takes his seat in temple of God in middle of the seven and the scriptures are directed at Israel.

If I were a 20 something christian with my current understanding of the times, Unless the Lord instructed me to I wouldn't have a child & would get myself fixed. It is so bad now the with evil in the world & generational decline (the last one with the falling away) that I wouldn't risk bringing a child up in the middle of it.
That said, imagine this multiplied in the Tribulation.

Hence one of my curiosities.
brother im speaking from just the last thirty years of reading basically anything I could find about that point in world history . I’ve actually never heard anyone who hadn’t thought the same

at he siege of Jerusalem built over years of Roman oppression over Jerusalem . Here’s a video I hadn’t seen it before but searched for your sake

What I’m saying and what your saying I think can be reconciled you seem to be talking about the actual length of the attack from when they actually attacked Jerusalem

im talking about when they began besieging smaller towns and surrounding and blockading Jerusalem that began in 67 ad some have it late 66 ad and the actual siege was completed in ad 70

as far as references just google the siege of Jerusalem and three years I just did that and hindreds of links came up

i think I’m talking about the whole event beginning with the Jewish revolt and the beginnings of the siege when they started sacking the towns around Jerusalem and blockading it remember how fortified Jerusalem was brother it was not an easy and quick thing to do even for the token empire they took a long time weakening them through famine and wearing out rhier wiol before they actually besieged the city and destroyed the temple it was about a three to three and a half year period

at his just according to what I’ve read over the years though I’m not really thinking it’s important how one looks at the Meg the of the seige . I’m pretty confident but I was t there either so lol

just based on lots of reading over the years I believe it took about 3 to 3 .5 years to accomplish the destruction of Jerusalem but again we all learn what we read and learn through life that just the opinion I’ve formed from the reading I’ve done myself I know for sure it’s not hard to find the information about a three year long siege though I just googled that phrase and tones of links came up
