I believe that's part of it, but Paul was writing generally about sin in his daily life.
Are you sure its as simple as that? I mean, he admitted that he was controlled by a demon within him and needed to be Saved by Jesus.

Question: If a pastor was trying to land a job at a church and they told the hiring body that they were controlled by a demon that was causing him/her to do things he/she didn't want to do, would he or she get the job?

And if you had a daughter who, having her date come to the house to pick her up, he arrives and steps inside for a quick intro and take your daughter to dinner, or whatever. If he told you that he was filled with a demon that wouldn't let him do what was right and only what was wrong, would you let your daughter go with him?

Edit - Sorry, this is poorly written.

Romans 7 paul is speaking in present tense. He is not talking about his past life.

He is talking about the struggle between the flesh and the spirit. and how we all have this war that goes on inside.

He says it for our benefit. so we are not downtrodden when we have the same struggles.

Thank you for sharing. Are you sure Paul isn't talking about the struggle the Jew has while living under the Law of Moses? In chapter one, Paul makes a switch from speaking to the Gentiles to the Roman Jews. Romans 7 has nothing to do with Gentiles.

I am positive. Paul is talking about a struggle he is having right now..

I am not sure why you think romans 7 is not to all people. Romans is a gentile church

He probably is, or using himself as the universal man.
In Philippians 3 yes he says to us all if anyone wants to think they got it, he had it more so under Law. ??How his interpretation of Law deceived him to do what he at the time of writing saw truth he can not do truth by his first born flesh, So he died daily to the self to see new in God's Spirit and Truth leading him. Luke 21:14-15 not easy to discern or can be unless Father reveals it to me or anyone else
I need God, Paul states that also 2 Cor 12:7-10

The power of sin is death
Romans 6:7
because anyone who has died has been set free from (the power of) sin.

It seems that many ascribe the power of sin as its allure, it's seductive power but, we sin naturally without even thinking, no one has to convince us to sin it's inherent in our nature, as natural to us as breathing. What isn't natural for us is serving others, let alone God. Even when Paul was 'trying' to serve God (according to the law), he was way off the mark. And he just didn't realize just how far off the mark he actually was until the encounter at Damascus.

I believe that's part of it, but Paul was writing generally about sin in his daily life.
Some people have trouble with this, but that's usually because they/we don't know all the sins they/we commit due to remembering them, properly classifying them as sin, etc.
Some say they they they don't sin every day, yet Jesus teaches us to ask forgiveness daily in His model prayer. Paul also tells us we need to be renewed every day, signifying our need to do so
If Paul, an apostle had problems with his flesh, who are we to say we don't?:)
You think the apostle Paul filled with the holt ghost went about sinning daily and was saying “ sin made me do it I want to do good but can’t because I’m trapped by the law of sin still ?

15 For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do. 16 If, then, I do what I will not to do, I agree with the law that it is good. 17 But now, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. 18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find. 19 For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice. 20 Now if I do what I will not to do, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me.

21 I find then a law, that evil is present with me, the one who wills to do good. 22 For I delight in the law of God according to the inward man. 23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. 24 O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? 25 I thank God—through Jesus Christ our Lord!

So then, with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin.

i think paul explains it well

In chapter 1 Paul slams the gentiles.

In chapter 2 Paul slams the jews

The rest of the book is to the churhc of rome which is both jew and gentile

In chapter 7, Paul talks about his life here and now

In chapter 8, he says there is no more condemnation. it does not matter jew or gentile.

in chapter 9 - 11 Paul is telling the gentiles not to be proud.. That God is not done with Israel.

I thought you were asking a real question. it seems your mind is made up?

I love Romans 7. What I learned from it is the conflict between the Spirit and the flesh and how they will always be in conflict as long as we are in our earthly bodies.
Probably why Paul also states:

"And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits
of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting
for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body."
(Romans 8:23 AV)

Amen.

so you should be writting down what people say and not attacking people to support your own view.. If thats all it was
Huh? It sounds to me like you and I may not belong to the same Spiritual family. But if you feel like judging my mind and heart, that's cool.

It's fantastic how you have managed to create a complete fairytale for others to not only believe, but enter.

Curious, by what authority do you presume to know what's in my mind and heart?

Paul taught those who "press" toward the mark will reach it even though the flesh still wants to sin.
For instance, if Paul felt a little bad & didn't do that day what the Lord wanted to do, he sinned in disobedience.
Regardless what the flesh wants his inner man still wanted Christ.

Ok. But Paul speaks often about his being set free from the Power of Sin in Romans. How could he be set free from the Power of sin yet claim to be filled with a demon that causes him to do what he doesn't want to do? Further, he states that he is Spiritually dead. If he's dead, how in the world did this guy become an Apostle?

Edity, if I walked up to you and told you that I was filled with a demon that wouldn't allow me to do the right thing, would you feel like this is normal, or would you distance yourself from me?

I am not the one who opened a poll to get peoples answer, then tried to arg;e with one of the people who openly gave you his point of view..

And it appears by looking at post 19. I am not the only one who thinks this

a pole looks for views.

Again, it looks like you aready made up your mind.. so take with it what you will..

I also explained why I could not agree with you, and now you just want to sit here and fight.

Real christ like you are.

Where in the post you responded to do you get the poster saying he was filled with a demon?

Further, he states that he is Spiritually dead. If he's dead, how in the world did this guy become an Apostle?
Where does paul state this?

Edity, if I walked up to you and told you that I was filled with a demon that wouldn't allow me to do the right thing, would you feel like this is normal, or would you distance yourself from me?
Why would you ask such a question?
