What is going on in this world? Figuratively, to have one’s “head in the sand” means being unwilling to recognize or acknowledge a problem or situation to one's detriment. This is the state of mind for the majority of people in the world today, both secular and religious. What could we liken these days to, according to scripture?
Yeshua Jesus said, the end of days would be “like the days that were before the flood.” They were eating, drinking, marrying, and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark. Noah preached to them, but they did not know the day of their visitation then the flood came and took them all away. So, shall also the coming of the Son of man be. (Matthew 24:38,39)
We could use this old cliché and say those who carry on in their everyday task of eating, drinking, marrying, and giving in marriage have their heads in the sand, oblivious to their surroundings. The events happening in the world today should be a wake-up call and warning to us all. Those in Jerusalem during Yeshua’s time, did not acknowledge what he was teaching, and sudden destruction came upon them. Just as the days of Noah, we may be living in a time when people are willingly ignorant of another appointed visitation.
