United Methodist Church Loses 1 Million Members in a Single Day over LGBT Affirmation
https://www.breitbart.com/faith/202...loses-1-million-members-over-lgbt-acceptance/

The United Methodist Church (UMC) lost more than a million members in one fell swoop last week, with a large West African conference voting to leave the organization due to its acceptance of LGBT clergy and marriages.

The United Methodist Church of Ivory Coast (Eglise Méthodiste Unie Côte d’Ivoire or EMUCI) renounced their UMC membership on May 28 “for reasons of conscience before God and His word,” La Croix International reported.

After holding UMC membership since 2008, EMUCI said the church “deviates from the Holy Scriptures” and prefers “to sacrifice its honor and integrity to honor the LGBTQ community.” The Ivorian conference was one of the denomination’s largest groups, and last reported more than a million members.

EMCUI’s decision comes in response to the U.S.-based UMC’s vote in May to repeal the decades-long ban on LGBT clergy and marriages, which sparked a mass exit of congregations around the world. The UMC’s decision passed 692-51 at its general conference in Charlotte, North Carolina, NPR reported. [Imagine that!]

EMUCI’s president, Bishop Benjamin Boni, declared that UMC “now rests on socio-cultural values that have consumed its doctrinal and disciplinary integrity.”
More than 4,000 congregations exited the UMC in just the first six months of 2023 over its embrace of LGBTQ+ ideology, Breitbart News reported.

As the organization continues to hemorrhage members, the Korean Methodist Church — which has about 1.5 million members — is also considering leaving, the Christian Post reported Monday.

“Homosexuality cannot be accepted until the Lord returns. This is not an emotional issue but a matter of unchangeable truth. Homosexuality is clearly a sin,” a coalition of Korean Methodists said in a statement. “This is an issue concerning the sanctity of life that the church must teach correctly, without compromise.”

The United Methodist Church is not a church. It is simply a synagogue of Satan. And the Christians who know the truth can now see it clearly.

Very sad, and denominations are under attack by this dangerous wave. I went through this with the ELCA Lutheran Church a number of years ago, and my wife and I left with probably 30-40% of our congregation when they adopted LGBT ideology.

I never thought I would see this, but even the Catholic Church is beginning to cave in on this issue.

It's all antichrist and it should be happening. The abnormality is all the fake inclusiveness. Not all the Body/Church is the Body/Church. It never has been. If we just be quiet and don't talk about issues, it's easy to pretend we all think alike. It's just this in a reverse sense:

19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us.

Not to mix socio-politics in & derail this, but a similar division is happening in the US.

Interesting times.

It is very sad to watch something like this happen within any church. Just goes to show that when a church fails to discipline itself, it will begin to split and crumble. This is even more important when it comes to the elders. After all, they are the the voting group that go to the General Assemblies and vote on direction for the church. However, those that leave will become stronger and more watchful!
The Presbyterian Church USA also lost membership over issues. Many of their members went to the more conservative PCA church.
Guard your church in these difficult times!

Sad? It is necessary.

The CRC is holding the line for the most part after its annual assembly here at Calvin University in Grand Rapids, Mi:

"Christian Reformed churches that are LGBTQ-affirming must repent or leave."

I don't really care for the window that's been left open with this position, however:

In 2022, Synod voted to uphold its position that same-sex relationships are sinful, but having attractions to the same sex is not in itself sinful.

"Having attractions to the same sex is not in itself sinful"? I don't agree with this statement. Sin needs to be acknowledged, addressed, repented of and confessed to our Lord at the earliest stages possible. Otherwise, rationalization can take over and the "attraction" can swiftly blow up into all out temptation and partaking of sinful behavior and actions.

Lust is one of Satan's greatest weapons against us, and I know for at least me personally, I need to be on guard at all times and bring "every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ" (II Cor. 10:5) by the power of the Holy Spirit.

I once attended a CRC Church in the Dallas area. In my opinion, it was a very good church. However, the church went through a mini split. Not sure what all the issues were but women elders was probably one of them. That church split and became a PCA church, with the elders running to other churches because they did not agree with Synod decisions.
This LGBTQ issue will probably result in yet another split. Hopefully it will strengthen what remains of the CRC.
However, IMO, they should go even further and return to men only in leadership. That is not to say that women are not capable to lead. I just do not think that God wants them in that role. I am aware that doing this would further divide the church, but I'm not sure that would be a bad thing.!
