It always seems that whatever side, it’s always some rage hate news story for you to get angry. “This person did this, be mad”. I’m honestly sick of it at this point. People say things like “good things happen far more than bad” but you’d never notice if your doom scrolling on this forum or any social media site. What is the psychology behind negative news articles? It appears that almost every news article revolves around a negative topic, is there a reason as to why the positive news is completely outshone by it?

There was time when they did more human interest stories, I did happen to see one a while ago, about a very young boy who called 911 and saved his mom.

News is like that car wreck you can't look away from.
The psychology of the negative news by the news media is to create a neurotic society, seems to be working.

Money.

The kind of reporting they do used to be called yellow dog journalism, or sensasionalism. It's very profitable because it panders to people's sense of being right by pointing out how wrong and idiotic the other side is.

Unfortunately I don't know any way to either stop them from doing it or stop people from being suckered into it. All I know to do is not pay attention to it myself and try to be a positive influence. Yeah, it's like trying to light a candle in a rainstorm, but it's all I know to try to do.

It's very simple: bad news sells. Good news does not.

It's called "hate farming".

These are news stories that are designed to fill you with rage...so you will come back to the news source to find out more information.

They only care about you watching more news...not truth, not accuracy, not anything except viewership.

Like stories about teacher pedophiles getting light or no punishment for the lives they destroyed. They don't care about anyone or anything except to get you to watch more.

You can choose to listen to this junk or not. It's not like you can actually do anything about any of it.

Whatsoever is pure, holy, or good...think on these things and the peace of God.....

Wisdom from the Original Testament and the Second Testament:

Jeremiah 51:45-47

45 “Come out of her, my people!
Run for your lives!
Run from the fierce anger of the Lord.
46 Do not lose heart or be afraid
when rumors are heard in the land;
one rumor comes this year, another the next,
rumors of violence in the land
and of ruler against ruler.
47 For the time will surely come
when I will punish the idols of Babylon;
her whole land will be disgraced
and her slain will all lie fallen within her.

Mark 13:6-8

6 Many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am he,’ and will deceive many. 7 When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 8 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places, and famines. These are the beginning of birth pains.

for some, it's a form of negative attention, others, they get trapped into the addiction of it. then people need a reason to initiate a conversation & to show their smarts.

Why does an acorn fall at a certain spot? Who knows? Who cares? Why does a scorpion always sting? Because it’s a scorpion? Why is news always negative? Because it’s news.

Just yesterday Youtube served me up a video explaining why news is so negative:
